ok. I have two oil filter brackets. One off my JDM motor and one off my original. The US one has tubes coming off of it where u would connect the oil cooler lines too. The other one has the bolts and brass washers where u connect the lines to it. My question is that the US one has a "golden dome" piece at the end of it and the JDM one doesn't. I can't see anywhere i could swap that piece over to the JDM one. My only concern is that it has a slide on connector on top of it. Do i just not worry about it or what?? because my oil pressure switch swaps right over with no problem. I just dont know what that piece is?

I feel like I have an idea of what you are talking about, but not completely certain what you are asking. There are two sensors on every oil filter housing and a place for them to mount: one for the oil pressure gauge and one for the oil pressure light.

For example, 9!'clipseDOHC's tech article shows a non-turbo housing in the first picture and a turbo housing in the second picture: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/359004-using-t-install-oil-pressure-gauge.html#post152360451

Neither of those is an air-cooled unit, which I believe you are alluding to, but the second one clearly shows both sensors. Here is a water-cooled unit converted (incorrectly, mind you; read this for more info: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/144573-90-oil-cooler.html#post1182721) to to run air cooled; again the sensors are clearly visible:

Mavisky shows in this tech article an air-cooled unit, with the two banjo/eye bolts, which I believe you are talking about, for the air-cooler. Again, you will easily note the two positions of the sensors: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/220259-installing-upgraded-oil-cooler.html

Since your car is a '91, you won't have an external (air) oil cooler unless someone previously installed it onto your car. Your engine will have been water-cooled. If not already installed, you would have to purchase an external oil cooler, original or otherwise, like Mavisky's article to run that oil filter housing unless you plug those holes. A water-cooled OFH will have this ugly thing attached to it on the filter side; note the nipple at the very bottom is where a tube connects to transfer the coolant:

And here's what the original air-cooler looks like installed; note no ugly water-cooler on the filter side:

Whether or not any of this has anything to do with what you are asking, I'm not positive. If the JDM OFH confuses you too much, just use the USDM unit. There is a bit involved with converting from water-cooled to air-cooled, so be certain you know the equipment your car has.

ok i have the one that has the big brass piece...is that for the light? because if it is then i wont worry about it. i will just look at the oil pressure gauge if it ever drops unusually low...

Thanks but that creates an interesting dilema....the JDM one that i was planing on using only has room for one of those. Could i eliminate the dash light sensor and just use the oil pressure sensor??

You could but I wouldn't recommend it. There are usually other pluged ports on the OFH that you should be able to use. Can you post a picture of your housing?

I could tomorrow night sometime i forgot to take a picture of it before i left work. It looks like the one that has the external cooler attacthed to it. Where arrow number 1 is pointing that is the "cap" on the end of it. And the hole is way too big to put the oil pressure sensor there. And i dont see anywhere else on the bracket where i could mount the oil pressure sensor??

I think what i will do is find one of those "T" splitters and just use that one hole for double duty. Have my dash light on the bottom of the T and my oil pressure unit on the end...

Personally not a fan of hard mounting these sending units as vibrations can cause the brass to crack from the weight of them bouncing or just kill the sending unit all together. I used an oil feed line setup and remote mounted mine with a rubber insulator.
