my 1g 1994 2.0 N/T HEEEEEEELLLPPP ... fuel cut, no spark under load? i don't know.

Ok....
Done my homework....
Done my research....
Done a lot....
and now i'm Done....

I have a 94' GS N/T and it has given me hell since i bought it.
The car was sitting at someone elses house for roughly 6 months... (not running)
I got the car home and replaced the entire engine wiring harness with one that had no splices in it.
replaced a few sensors immediately....
Got the car running and driving...
Replaced the shotty exhaust with a stainless header back..
Replaced the 02 sensor with a brand new one.
Did the timing...
Still was driving fine...

Then the fun began....

two weeks ago, shortly after i filled the GAS tank up completely for the first time since i had it, i was on the freeway and then headed towards my exit. My car gave out from underneath me.
It vibrated like crazy. and then proceeded to act like it was missing a few cylinders.
We towed it home and let it sit for a few days to think about what could be wrong before we tried to start it again.
Couldn't figure it out so we decided to just go for it and start it up.. It started right up but was still running like crap.

****** Here is the problem***********

The car will idle perfectly in the driveway.. I can tune it to where it sits at 800-900 or 1000RPM and she sounds perfect... i can rev it up for as long as i want or as hard as i want while it's sitting still.
When it gets under load at around 3000RPM it goes to crap...!
I have tried everything....... seriously.....

The timing was correct but i did it again anyways and replaced the tensioner pulley, idler pulley and the hydraullic tensioner.

Since then i have replaced the wires and plugs with brand new parts.
with the new plugs and wires there was still no change.

I pulled the FPR and the injectors.
Replaced it all with a working FPR and working injectors.
no change.....

Switched out the CAS two different times with two others..... no change.......

switched out the Coil pack with two others....... no change....

switched the TPS, IASC, and the other sensor on the throttle body.... no change.

decided to swap out the entire throttle body.... no change...

switched the MAS ... no change....

switched out the ECU.... no change......

MPI relay (5 times)... no change...
..
..
..
After every sensor switch i drove the car down the road... Each time i could get through first gear.... then into second.... sometimes into third if i took it easy.... EVERY time i took it out though, it would lose a cylinder somehow... roughly at 3000RPM every time!!

I'm either losing spark at a certain rpm... or my fuel is cutting out at a certain rpm....
when i pull the plugs out and put them back in it'll idle perfectly again...
if i let the car sit long enough without touching anything, i can start it back up and it'll idle perfectly again... It's almost as if it just needs a little time to re-coup after it gets shut of...
but as soon as i drive it again.. crap!!! again!!
..

So then i decided to just try and figure out the CEL that was on continuously now....
I tested the check engine light with an analog volt meter... the car threw (ss LL s LL ) 21... Coolant Temp Sensor.. CTS... so i switched it out too..... no change.... (check engine light didn't go away...)
I haven't driven it down the road since then because it's just sucky to keep on being defeated by the 1g GHOST problem i'm having....

I've done a compression test.... 1) 130 PSI.... 2) 151 PSI.... 3) 170 PSI.... 4) 180 PSI.... roughly...** I don't remember the exact numbers... **
I've checked all of the vaccuum lines.. no broken pieces or leaks...

There is only so much that i can think that it is.....

Can it be the 02 sensor? crapping out and sending incorrect info to the ECU causing it to cut the fuel or the spark?

Can it be the Coolant Temp Sensor ( CTS ) ? (i've only replaced this one once)
Would the engine temp send information to the ECU and cause it to shut off spark because it thinks the car is too hot and shouldn't be running...?

Can it be the fuel pump? Could i have dislodged something in the tank when i filled it up and now it's stuck to the pump when i get on the throttle and hit 3000RPM?
Can the fuel pump just crap out under loads and idle just fine in one place?

Can it be the fuel filter?
EVen though the filter is brand new (3 months) can it already be bad and not letting appropriate amounts of gas through it when i increase the RPM's?

I am seriously at a loss with this one....
Noone has any suggestions and the only code it's throwing is the coolant temp sensor....

I unplugged my ECU and left it out of the car for 2 hours... I took my battery out of the car for 2 hours... Can that reset the ECU and get rid of the code it threw or will i have to do something else to reset the ECU?

but in all seriousness......
CAN ANYONE HELP.?!????

Anything would be greatly appreciated...

This actually sounds like exactly what was happening to my '92 Talon TSi AWD, just before the engine made it's final launch...

Sitting still, ran like a dream, could rev and hold flawlessly. But around 3,000rpm under load, it went straight to hell in a handbasket. Spit-sputter-putter, no power. =(

...I think a few people have seen what I discovered when I pulled it apart.

The trouble is, I'm not sure that what I found in the engine was the cause, it may have been one of the effects. I'll be keeping on eye on this thread as well, and hoping something is discovered that might help.

And now that I think about it ... it all started after I filled the tank completely, added Seafoam, ran it down to 1/4 tank, refilled it, and then replaced the fuel filter...

Well now you have me more worried than i was 10 minutes ago...
Thanks Luke..
i just went to thinking i only have a small fuel or spark issue to thinking that my pistons and block might end up like yours... not cool..

I hope some people have some sort of idea what it could be and not just only give suggestions about what else i can "try" to get it all taken care of...
Someone has had to of had this problem and fixed it... someone knows the answer...
It's so hard just to get "suggestions" of what others would try... but every little bit helps...
I just want it fixed... Even though i just bought the other 98' N/T. and my GST is almost done..... i want this one running too... they should never have to just sit on the sidelines... lol

An electrical short of some sort. Normally i would say coil pack/ecu, but you checked those.
Did you check them with brand new parts? Does it cut out in first and second at 3000 rpm? or just 3rd?

I changed the coilpack out with 2 other ones. 1 for sure worked. It came out of my Talon.
The chances of 3 being bad and causing the exact same problem is highly unlikely but not impossible.
The way i see it, all 3 would not cause the same issue.

I can get through first at 3000RPM.... I can get to second at 3000RPM and only sometimes get to third.

Most of the time when it shuts down i'm in second gear and at about 3000RPM.

93 sohc

It seems like quite a few people are having similar issues, I just bought my 93 non turbo today and I can rev my car all the way to red line but im getting the same symptoms, spitting, sputtering, lacking power, rough idle at times, I got a post stating almost the same stuff except mine isn't shutting off.
