Heres a shot of the locator pin that aligns the turbine housing on the CHRA, thank Justin (jusmx141) for the picture.

yea man there is nothing there at all... not a hole nothing im getting worried
Which locator pin? If its the one on the turbine housing then it honestly doesn't matter, like Scott said. It just allows you to line up everything so your oil drain and coolant lines line up after you mount it on the exhaust manifold.

None of my 16g's had that locator pin so to line everything up I wouldn't tighten the c-clamp down completely until I got the oil drain bolted to it and torqued. That way if you need to clock it a little you can just spin it to fit, after the install of course you'll want to remember to tighten that c-clamp though.

oh ok, thanx guys, this is my first time rebuilding a turbo so i figured its better to ask a question than #### something up LOL, thanx again resolved

The locating pins on the turbine and compressor housings of TD05H turbos are in place to assure the turbo is assembled at a perfect alignment, and also to assure that the housings do not twist being that the actuator pulls on an angle instead of straight. The pins are not required (many knockoff 16Gs do not have them at all), but they are nice to have around for piece of mind if nothing else.

I have seen cases where the small turbine housing pin will shear off flush with the housings on older 14B's and 16G's from the years of rapid heating and cooling. The turbos still worked fine, you just have to be careful to align the housings perfectly before tightening the v-band.
