ebaydownpipe Please readbefore you think about buying a ebay or megan racing downpipe

Well i built my girl freind a 97 gts spyder converted auto to manual . My problem is the car will not boost past 9-10 psi !!. mods are crower 264-272 14b turbo 7cm, willy 255 pump , afpr 43.5 psi.ngk non protruding 7es plugs 3' down piple 3' exhaust test piple on, hallman bc. jeff (dsm chips) chip. Iv done a boost leak test 10 times compression test from timing belt side is 145psi 175psi 177psi 170psi . Iv change 14b turbo with another one samething 9-10psi ?? it has no exhaust leaks!!!! (Iv even put vice grips) yes vice grips on the wastegate flapper on the exhaust housing The car is very slugish bad gasmileag. Well I found out the reason why the car wouldnt go ova 9psi. After all these tests and changing all these parts, it was the ebay downpipe. apparently the flex pipe that was only 3-4 months old, the inside of it had collapsed. Ill post pics of it soon . I was told from a guy at turbotrix (Bean) or Dean, that he has seen the flix pipes cause this kind of probloms. The inside of the flix pipe part of the downpipe had heat shrunk to the size of a quarter WTF so Think again before buying knock off stuff i think i learn my lesson

Well that's unfortunate for you however I've been running an eBay downpipe for a year with no problems at all. So saying no1 should buy one is a little too much. That could happen with any downpipe.

ive also been running a ebay downpipe for 1.5 years with no issues it was made by jvt , bad stuff happens to us all but to say dont anyone buy is a bit overboard .

I've had my megan dp on for quite a while now with no issues...I think you got the lemon that was made on a monday or friday...

As with the others, I am running full ebay/Megan exhaust and have not had one problem with it. Well other then the 3" gap between the DP and Catback. Not a real problem for an exhaust shop to fix tho.

I had many problems with megan racing. I have a gst and bought a downpipe. I spent countless dollars and time trying to figure my boost problem. I checked everything and replaced so many sensors. Well long story short the downpipe pipe went from 2.5 to 3 inch. Well I couldnt see anything inside that was wrong untill I took a golf ball and put it down my downpipe and didnt come out. I was like wtf. Cut the flex section off and it was all messed up. It was only 1 inch now. Bought another megan racing downpipe. Couple weeks later no boost again. So I got my money back and the downpipe and replaced the flex section and its been good as new for 2 years.

I bought my downpipe off of E-bay through Archer Racing & it was made by Borla & it's frigging awesome no complaints here.

It's not the downpipe, just the flex-section that's at fault. Certain companies used inferior flex sections that have a tendency to fold in like this.

Just to add to the others, my downpipe off ebay has lasted a year with no problem. I have seen a picture on here of someone's Megan downpipe that had this problem so I'm guessing that's why he included it in the title. I haven't ever personally heard of this happening to anybody though so I highly doubt is a common issue in ebay downpipes, especially considering they aren't all made by the same company.

Iv had other ebay downpipes too and never had a problem with them !! I dont think this would have happen if i would have bought name brand sorry i,ll put up pics soon. I also talk to some exhaust shops and have seen this happen . i wonder if it can happen just a bit to hurt (some) power In other cars. The down pipe i use was some ebay brand ?? The megan racing had happen to some cars from turbotrix they told me . I never said dont buy it !!!! Just think twice..

I had transmission trouble, so NO ONE should buy an eclipse.

Think again before buying an eclipse; I learned my lesson (Oh, I guess not since I have like 10 of them and I'm still looking for more).


On a serious note, yeah that issue would be hard to track down. I would've never imagined that would be the problem.

I'm running a Megan Downpipe, previous owner put it on. Have it on for over a year now and no problem. Car boosts to 10 psi easy, and hits about 15 psi at redline. And the previous owner used to drag race the car. Never had any problems. I will have to watch this though, just in case i ever have any problems.

i run a full megan exhaust (header, downpipe, catback exhaust) all for over 6 years now
with absolutely no problems at all.
planning to get the MR test pipe too to delete this restrictive hiflo cat.

Megan downpipe here as well...been on for a couple of years, mated to an e-bay 3in catback. No problems with either one. No leaks, flows great, and no corrosion. No complaints .

Did that for 15 miles to drive to the muffler shop, Z was it obnoxious. Almost worse than when I was dumping under the drivers side front bumper.

I'm sorry but am I the only one that can't take a guy serious who says he has a 3 foot down pipe and 3 foot exhaust? not to mention the word pipe that was spelled piple twice... the worst part is this forum has a built in spell check haha
