Alrighty, so I finally picked up my 14B, I have J-pipe, oil feed line, plan on reusing water lines, possibly gaskets, need to get oil return line. Am I missing anything or am I ready to go? also I noticed there are a few cracks in the exhaust port of the turbo and 1 small wastegate crack. Should I be worried? other than the small cracks the turbo is in excellent shape with no shaft play.

By the way I'm aware of the need to upgrade injectors, and get some form of tuning tool such as dsm link, this post is for the 14b install, not about supporting mods, thanx

You can probably get an exhaust housing for 15.00 shipped off eBay. You should replace it, an exhaust leak can cause problems.

I did the hack install, I re-used my T25 water lines, got a J-Pipe, bought a SS feed line with the Earl's filter, used a 1G return line and new turbo and O2 gaskets.

will do, thanx again

not sure if I posted these pics right, but heres the cracks in the exhaust housing the one that goes to wastegate is biggest the rest are too small for the camera to pick up

Cracks in the wastegate area are very common and are usually not something to worry about... I saw the pics in your profile and it doesn't look to bad at all but if you could i would definitely recommend to try and get it ported/polished/smoothed out as much as possible... I created a thread on "my first port job" and it cost me about $50 to do so it may be something worth looking into but again you would be fine running it that way...

I like this writeup the best. Good stuff

me too thats the one I'm going to use, I wish I woulda checked on here sooner for I feared the cracks were bad and decided to go ahead and buy a new MHI e316G and obx header, OOPS :hellyeah: LOL I guess the 14B is now a "back up " turbo LOL one other thing, the J-pipe I have has no nipple for boost source...is it a big deal if I drill a hole in it, thread it and screw one in and add some JB weld?? or will it leak?

No problem, make sure and report back with your results...!

ported evo3 big 16g install went smooth, 6 hrs, no problems, just a small oil drip from oil return but no biggy, just took it off, sanded the paint off the end and bolted it back up and it seemed to stop the little drip, car boosted strong but unfortunatly the small clutch slippage I had before the install turned into full blown clutch after install...LOL wierd huh LOL...so anyways, exedy stage 2 clutch with prolight flywheel, new slave and master cylinder will be installed on friday, when I did the turbo I also put on obx tubular header, ported megan racing o2 housing, megan racing 3" downpipe, to bolt up to the megan catback (although there is no longer a cat) thanx for the posts with links ect without them the install probably would have been a disaster, muchly appreciated:thumb:
