i just recently purchased an ACT 2600HD pressure plate with a 6puck unsprung friction disc, and the usual parts that come in a kit... it was all brand new and a great deal so i picked it up...

now, what i am wondering is... how harsh is an unsprung clutch??? ive used pretty aggressive style clutches before, but never unsprung... this is going in a mostly daily driver that i will take to the track rarely.

im just wondering what your opinions are about using this clutch in my daily driven street car...

THANKS!

I have never driven one with an unsprung disc, but from what I have heard it is not very friendly for dd duty and can be pretty rough on the drivetrain. I would say to switch to the sprung disc since you will be using it for a dd mainly. It should be friendlier on the street and last longer as well. Again this is just what I have HEARD. There is probably someone here who uses the unsprung and has been ok with it on the street, but I would rather have the sprung one IMO:)

After running my 4 puck unsprung ceramic disk I would never go back. It's not as harsh as people say and drives just fine. At first it was real grabby but after a few hundred miles it was fine. I've had two sprung clutches fail at the springs. Just one less thing to fail now. This disk was also recommended by Jack at jackstransmissions.

Also the ceramic disks last longer under extreme conditions like heat. The organic material on the street disk just slips when hot like after multiple launches. Jack said he has seen the material shred off after getting really hot at the track.
