2g fwd axles in 1g fwd

[epic fail]

I have a late model 1gb fwd that has the bigger half shafts/axles like the 2gs have, I can't find replacement ones. Can I just buy a 2g axle fwd and put it in? I heard it might be too long

i also heard they are slightly longer but i hope somebody can shine some light here.
