gsx starter in gst?

will a starter from a four wheel drive GSX work in a front wheel drive GST? i ask because im pretty sure the flywheels between the two differant models have differant thickness'es. i dont wanna give my buddy a starter that isnt gonna work.

I know the 1g's are different. the gears on the flywheel are positioned differently.

I was always told the starter ring gear on the flywheel is different on FWD and AWD, not sure if the gears in the starters are different.

flywheels are different but the starters for gst or gsx both work.
