Hi my car is a 97 gsx with 1g motor and head in it! it was running good doing 318hp till i added my jmf intake mainfold now its went retarted! i took it the dyno in Ok city and its doing only 169hp now and thats with sputtering like crazy its alsmot like the dam things missing! It drives alright but aS soon as i try to hit the boost thats when it acts up the CEL light comes on the car bogs down like crazy wont even shot off like it should just runs like shit. The guys at able racing seem to think its my knock sensor but if it went bad would'nt it throw on a CEL lite? all the time. And odd thing is it worked before hand only till after i installed the intake then thats when it started running like shit. I got to go back tommarow and there going to put a knock sensors in it but if that dosen'nt fix it what else could it be any ideas?
 
It has a small boost leak but it wouldnt cause this kinda problem. I hooked up all the Lines that where hooked to to stock intake. Dose it matter which nipple i hooked them to? cause i hooked them to what i seemed fit. there where 4 nipples on the new intake and my old intake had 3 so i blocked the 4th one off as i couldnt find anything that went to it.

I did a 272 cam install before hand but it seemed to run fine after words so i think it was done right on that part.

Also i added a coil over plug to the car but if my memory recalls it acted the same way with stock coil set as well as COP setup and i belive if it was the coils packs it would miss all the time driveing normal as well as hard.
 
Are you running an ignition amplifier with the COP?

I'd still pull the codes and see what's stored.
 
No i dont have any thing speical ruinng the COP i think i will stick my old ones back on and see what happens. Only thing is the CEL light is not on and when it comes on its for a few secs during shifts then right back off it gose. Could i get codes whens its doing this?
 
I would definetly check the COP setup

Sometime things like what you described are caused by spark blowout, usually happens on Dyno's where people have to often re-gap their spark plugs. Might as well changed them just incase since they're dirt cheap
 
Did you re-tune after the new intake manifold? Sheet metal intake manifolds can cause your mixture to go to the lean side. This would cause knock which would cause timing to retard which would cause super low HP numbers.
 
Yeah the shop i took it to in OKC they retuned it and dyno it there the ones who thinks the knock senosor is bad im just trying to find out what other problems could cause this cause i can bet money its not going to be the knock sensor. Its never what u think it is when it comes to cars screwing up.

but the thing is it ran like crap even before installing the COP setup. It started right after i install the intake
 
As stated above, did you fully plug in ALL sensors that were taken off and did you double check them? Also, fix those boost leaks you said you have as well.
 
yeah all Sensors are pluged in i didnt unhook much but i look for some unplugged and found none. and the boost leak is very small its leaking around the weld on the UICP but i had wrose boostleaks in the past and didnt cause them much problems.

Seems 08talon08 is haveing the same problem. I know after i fix this problem im done with modding these cars seems when i mod it it dose more damage then good.

1 step foward then 2 steps back :(
 
I have dsmlink and with the COP setup u they said i need something like MSD what every that is so there going to put my stock setup back on. They want 600 for the MSD but i think i will buy one later and put it on if its not hard that is.
