I purchased a 94 talon tsi fwd about a year ago, a 6 bolt swap was done prior to me buying the car.

A few months ago, I went and bought cv axles from autozone, duralast, and i purchased 94 axles not thinking that there was a chance they wouldn't fit the transmission.

So Yesterday we go to put the axles in and the input shaft to the transmission is too small. it just spins . I called auto zone and the part number is the same throughout 90-94, advanced auto has a different part number for 90 and then 91-94 are the same.

Is there any way to determine the year of the trans by the ID badge, or any other things I can do to get the right cv.

Any help would be great

Really lost on what to do, I need to get the axles finished before I can get it inspected, and im already a month over.

There should be a vin number scribed into the trans bell housing. Enter this vin into caps or google and it will bring up the year the trans came from. At least the case anyway.
