I was just researching how to install my 1990 Oil filter housing and ran into this oil filter housing port mod to decrease oil pressure. I am installing a new 6bolt engine with balance shafts removed. The engine is a 9.0:1 compression. Should i install the OFH and see what my oil pressure is going to be before doing this porting mod? Do some people need this mod and some dont? I just dont want to drill the housing and end up having too low of oil pressure. Thank you

I took out that big bolt and the little ring and spring that was in there and made that bolt hole just a bit bigger. Not too big but also significant. So this should take my oil pressure with balance shafts removed from about 110 psi to 80? I also did the oil port mod on the head to make that small oval port deeper and more rounded out.
Edit: I did this mod and still have too high of oil pressure with balance shafts removed. What can i do now to get the oil pressure down a bit?

i called Cox racing, a local race shop. They dont do anything to make less oil pressure. if anything you want more oil pressure. The work on mostly imports and they say they dont make higher pressure oil pumps because you can eliminate the balance shafts and have higher oil pressure.

Well, it's high oil pressure that destroys turbos and that's what you are trying to stop. Certain turbos have a minimum and maximum oil pressure to run through it. Holset for instance you cannot run more than 80psi through the CHRA to prevent blowby. Removing the balance shafts people see numbers above 100psi which isn't good to run through a turbo.

Don't quote me on this, but I already was informed that too high of oil pressure is bad for the bearings as well.
