ok.. i just bought a 93 tsi awd with stock turbo. has a w-255 f.p. it had a gm maf and a translater.. the guy removed it before he gave me the car, so i installed the 1g. needless to say the car runs like a$$. it has a apexi safc2 half a$$ed front mount, and a greddy b.o.v... the car acc. to about 3,000 rpms.. then it just wont go. boost goes up to about 8 or 9 then its all over, the car sputters and back fires. and at idle the vac/boost gauge is reading -20. even if i feather the throttle going down hill(no boost) it wont go past 3,500. feels as though it develops a very bad misfire.

now im sure there is about 500 things that could cause this but what are the obvious things im missing. compression is 150 across the block, it has new wires, new coil, and new plugs. i dont know how to use the safc2 im not familiar with them. any help would b greatly app. this car ran really good before the gm maf was removed.. now it sucks

Boost leak test it and get an AFPR go with the 255 fuel pump. Like Spoolin said, you should also re-adjust the AFC settings.

Mines Is Having The Same Problem The Only thing Is That Mines Is Completely Stock And I Guess My Flow Meter Is Damaged So You may be runing lean or to rich check your air\fuel ratio or try re adjunting you safc theres a lot of difference betwen gm and 1g mas

if it has stock 450cc injectors zero the safc out check all wire's going to the ecu from safc. check for boost/vacuum leak's. see what it does when you disconet the mass.

you probably need to pull the ecu out to make sure he didn't leave any wires off, "IF'' his maf-t was wired to the ecu, he could have just ripped it out in a hurry.

also make sure the ecu is not fitted with a programmed eprom.

hey thanks guys. i put the stock intercooler back on, and i hooked the a/f gauge up and its running full lean. i drove it before i put the a/f gauge back on and with the safc unplugged it runs good if you ease into it when it starts building boost it pulls very hard, but its staying on lean. im not gonna keep driving it i dont want to kill the pistons. and i already have the 255 pump. should i hook the safc back up?
thanks

i noticed when i hook the safc2 up my boost gauge in the dash works.. idk if this has anything to do with anything. the guy told me it has a small exhaust leak by the o2 housing. i have new manifold and o2 housing to put on but i dont have the gaskets yet. can anybody tell me the base settings for the safc2 so i can try and tune it to somewhat stock? i seen a post with the safc but im not sure if its the same for the safc2???? and another thing i noticed when i have the key on when im f@#$in with this safc2 i hear the injectors making noise. but any helpful suggestions to the safc2 would be great thanks guys!
