Does anyone know how close the 3g dash and center console are as far as size / fitement to converting them into a 2g interior? I hate the stock 2g outdated looking interior and my car is a weekend car anyways, with no heat, AC or anything else behind the dash and I like the 3g black interior a bit better. I basically want to swap the dash and console and use aftermarket guages instead of a cluster. I used to own a 3g and I thought they "looked" close, but it's hard to say now without access to a 3g car. Any insight is appreciated. If it needs to be modified that's ok, I would just like to know how close or far off it is from the get go.

2g's and 3g's are completely different platforms. They aren't interchangeable.

I'm sure with enough sawing, gluing, filling, and reupholstering you could make it fit, or any dash for that matter.

This is pretty much a NO-GO.

Coming from Honda's, Integra dashes were installed in Civic's! Yeah they didn't fit but we made them fit..

For door panel dash fitment we heated the plastic of the panel till it was ''soft'' and closed the door to make it conform to the edge of the dash only issue is the cluster don't use one from a V6 model as the signal is mean for a 6 cylinder pulse.

Of course they are different platforms, I'm just curious as to how different we are talking. For example, people put 4th gen camaro / ta interiors into 3rd gen camaro / tas all the time. This is sort of the same deal, but not much modification is required on those cars at all to do that swap. I think a 3g eclipse and 2g eclipse are a little closer as those are.

Exactly, the cluster I wasn't planning on using anyways, but dash fitment wise it may be possible to make it work imo.

I think it'd be cool. I'd keep an eye out for a 3g in the junkyards, and when you find one go for it.

Hell if someone can put a 6G72TT in a 1g this should be a walk in the park. Cut/mold some plastic solder some wires and drill some new holes can't be that hard hahaha

Woah watch your mouth bro haha. Outdated? Your going to make some people feel old on this site. The two reasons i love a 2g is for styling outside and inside and i like the curve of the dashes a lot. I had a 3g and i thought the dash was cool ill give you that but im not one for the gap between the center console and dash, i like the slope on a two g. Did you ever consider doing stuff to yours to make it look newer. Get some pieces professionally painted to match the car if the color is appropriate and change some gauges maybe toss the airbag and put a nice fiberglass and painted piece with some gauges or a screen there.

Take what you like from the 3g dash, and fiberglass it into your hacked 2g dash. Basically keep the rear, sides, and all the mounting points of the 2g dash.. and just cut the "face" off. Put the "face" of the 3g dash there, and fiberglass it all to make it fit. Then paint it black or gray, whichever matches your interior.

wow good luck with this 1, keep us all informed please i am interested to see it done! i would just go with painting my 2g dash a nice 2tone with some cool colors maybe black/tan or something, there is multiple ways of doing 2tone in our cars too. i have seen some awesome jobs too

Thanks for all the responses guy, I will be considering this, however I need to get a hold of a dash to test fit and see how close it is to start with. I don't like the styling of the 2g cockpit like interior, and I don't like the fact that it's gray rather than black. My car had a cage put in and the stock dash was hacked on the sides to make the bars run through anyways, so regardless if I do the swap or not I'd need a new 2g dash to start with to make it look clean. I don't want the car to look ghetto or hacked and even though it's only used on weekends and want it done right and clean. I'll keep everyone posted if I get a hold of one to try and test fit. If anyone has a hook up to get one please PM me.

Dodge avenger dash looks appear to be from the stoneage the HVAC/vent portion doesn't angle outward it STILL looks like a 2g dash..

There was a topic like this talking about the same dash but into 1g on DSMTALK no one was trying it because you always have those what I like to call ''losers'' that state the obvious ''doesn't fit'' and ''WHY?'' It certainly is a valid swap and very possible its an old car something like this requires fit and finish then you'll have everyone picking up a dash to fit into their DSM.

As soon as I find one I'll give it a shot wiring isn't an issue it's just a cover with buttons.

yeah they are the same style pretty much just a different color. i would do it if i needed a dash, but since my dash is perfectly fine i just might paint mine custom. but if i needed a dash to go into my 2g i would look for the avenger. good luck and lets see some pics if you get 1!

I'd be interested in trying this into a 1G. My dash is crap. I would have to make the heat work, but that shouldn't be too bad since I only have to hook up the heater core. Either way I'm going to be looking for a new dash. Keep us posted and put up some pics if you get this going. I'd love to try, but I can't have my car down for that long at the moment. I may try to get ahold of a center console to try though.

What about a Lancer dash? Cheaper than an Evo dash and may fit the 1G styling better than an 3G Eclipse. Not sure the Lancer dash would look good in a 2G though.
