Ok... so i finally got my tags and stuff updated and around 9 central time i decided to break my car in, driving great; besides the stiff motor mounts making my car shake!!
ok soo im driving the back roads and its driving awesome.. gas light came on, so i turned around to go back and get gas... go to press the gas and nothing!! i got to about 30mph and it just slowly died... pressed the gas but nothing!
So i thought it was out of gas and had a friend drive me some gas... NOPE NOT THE GAS... my fuel pressure gauge is reading 38psi!! Car just cranks..

So i took one of my wires off and check for spark and i didnt get much any spark...

WHAT COULD THIS BE??? PLEASE HELP!

ive been waiting to drive this car for two years.. had it rebuilt went to drive it the first time and got a ticket for exp. tags.... Now THIS!!
please help!

Does the tach move while craking? If so test the "power TR" transistor thing on the intake mani. The haynes or chilton has the test procedure.

Does it smell like gas? Is there unburned gas getting into the cylinders?

dont really have a way to check... i dont have a wideband or anything!

Last night after i posted this i was thinking about the things it could be... and my tech didnt work, steve told me the tech is read through PT, so i was thinking if my tech didnt work maybe that went bad completely!! So i was thinking on checking that first, before i start thinking its my coil packs or my cas!

Well it wouldnt be the coil packs because thats weird for them both to go out at the same time huh!

yes but im not getting spark... i put about 4 gallons of fresh vpower i had my friend drive out to me in the boones cause i was cruisin the back roads.

i thought it was my CAS for a sec cause i saw oil leak from that area and noticed it was half way popped out, one bolt was missing.... so i popped it back in bolted it down tight and its just cranking!

old gas WILL completely clog up all your fuel filters, the one on the pump and the one before the rail. sometimes it rusts out the tank and the red rust particles are what plug the filters. because you car died when the fuel light came on, i bet it's the problem. your pump was sucking out the bottom of the tank with all the sediment and that's it. new filter time. new gas in the tank won't solve the problem. you need to get your filters unclogged.

YES i changed out the old gas... look up a few post, i even added more FRESH gas!

GAS is NOT my issues, as my OP stated.... its spark, im not getting spark! Now i can take the CAS off and turn it 180* and see if that works but im thinking its the PT!

im trying to test it soo ill let yall know whats going on!

thanks for all the help tho!!

You have some spark still as stated before or no spark.

And are you sure its not flooded due to cranking the hell out of it.

haha no my timing belt isn't broke i would notice that!

I WasNT getting spark and i figured it out!! :D

Thanks too.... n8dsmdriven!!
also since u said ## cas was halfway poped out make sure its not 180* out now.....
That was the issue!!

NOW i noticed it was smoking, thought it was just cause all the new gaskets from the fresh rebuild BUT nope its an extreme oil leak some where! AND NO its not the dip stick!!

But ill start a new thread on that if i cant figure it out!

Thanks for all the help!

The CAS has to be fairly tight and you probably have to re-time the car now. Your oil leak might be on the back of the block where the bolt that goes through near the balance shaft is most likely missing.

Why would he need to re-time the engine if the cas was out 180*? It has nothing to do w/ the timing belt.

Do some of you guys read the rules at the top of your text box?

3. Don't try to help if you don't know the answer.

''Your timing belt broke'' that one topped it off for me.

Your car won't even run with in any sort of common sense with the CAS 180 off, so never think about that one again.

To check if the CAS is functioning turn your ign key to ''on'' hold the cas in your hand and rotate it you'll hear the injectors fire.

How about your power transistor check the connection to it. A lot of cars ( mine was one till I fixed it) have a broken tab on the transistor connector more over, polymounts shake it off the transistor and finally it also can go bad. One way to check for that is ground one of the spark plugs to the body and start the car. (leave other plugs out of course)

Wow, I can't believe how dumb some of these responses are ... no wonder these cars have the reputation they have.

To the poster ... if you had NO SPARK like you stated something doesn't add up. A CAS being 180 out will make the car not start, but you will still have spark .. just at the wrong time.

To the person stating a timing belt broke, please do us a favor and never post again.

The other guy asking why it needs to be retimed since the belt was not damaged, please do some more research.

Midshipcivic - you are probably the only person that posted here that made any sense at all and seems to know what they are talking about. Good info. BTW ... not sure if you remember me but we talked before in the past when I was in Florida. Black 92 camaro ... you found my for sale thread on LS1tech and let my secret out. You must spend A LOT of time online.

Ahh I remember that:p ! I've also seen your car driving around somewhere as well a Black Camaro with what large Mickey Thompsons on the rear.

Yes I spend a lot of time on computer and under a car. Years of experience from one trickles down to the next generation to be learned in a blink of an eye.

Knowledge is power.

Hah. I needn't worry about large DSM's tuning secrets that's been covered it's at the point where I give my input on common problems always encountered.

Only thing I'm around here for is creativity there are only a handful of those individuals around here.
