stuck shaft?

recently i picked up a used 14b turbo with 0 shaft play, it seemed like it was in very good condition. Today my mechanic helped me swapped out my old 14b turbo and put this one in, when we test drove it, there was no boost. My mechanic came to the conclusion that the shaft on the turbo would not spin. Why isn't the turbo's shaft spinning? before the installation, the shaft would spin freely, and now its on the car it won't spin therefore resulting the car to have no boost! someone help me pleaseee! thanks

Did you remove the air intake and stick your finger in there and try to spin it?

yup, we even used a tool to try to spin the shaft, didn't spin =(

You probably have a clogged oil tube. What was wrong with your old turbo? Hows your oil pressure? One of my friends went through 2 turbo's on his Audi from a sludged up oil line.

my old turbo (which i only drove 3000 miles with...) was a rebuilt turbo i bought from a user here, it started having some play in every way (up and down left and right whatever its actually called...) one day i was driving it and started boosting and i could hear the shaft hitting the side of the turbo and boost wasn't consistent

Sounds to me like u have a oil feed line that had something in it.did u take the turbo apart at all.try to loosen the clamp for the hot side and readjust it.there could be a chance that it was a bad turbo from the get go. and when u tryed to spin it was one good spot where it would not bind.

when i bought it from the buyer (it was local) he already took the clamp off to show me the hotside of the turbo, and i spun the turbo (which spun freely and there wasn't any shaft play, so as the noob that i was, i thought that the turbo was good...learning experiences are expensive...)

so a little update on my issue, i drove it hard today, real hard, and on my boost gauge, it does build boost, but its real slow and it goes up to only 5 psi (normally i'd get 10-11), i don't hear the fins hitting the turbo or anything, i can hear the boost sound through my intercooler pipes, but its almost as if my car has no turbo on it
