is this an aftermarket part?

I was looking under my car and saw this:

I just recieved this car from a relative and know little about it.

Is the stainless steel part an aftermarket part? If so what part is it? I'm just learning about cars so i don't know much. My guess was that it's the exhaust. Everything else is a little rusted so i just wanna know what i should replace. Thanks.

ya that is referred to as a flex pipe. its a stock piece but that one appears to be replaced

Just looks like a new flex pipe was welded onto the stock exhaust. Old one probably had a leak...

yea, its a new piece then your stock one, thats your your flex pipe. my thought an from previous experience that it was changedat some point due to it tearing apart. it happend to me once for having bad motor mounts so it would of tugged on my exhuast, causing my flex pipe to come apart. happend to me twice till i got new motor mounts
