Turning to fellow DSMr's for advice...
I just picked up a 6-bolt swapped tsi for a pretty good price. I don't believe it was wired correctly bc there was alot of things left unconnected and it just looked overall sloppy. The 6-bolt was said to have a list of performance parts and less then 10k on rebuild. I pulled the valve cover and the head was oh so clean so I believe that to be true. Anyway after getting it somewhat wired up it wouldn't turn over, it would crank but I wouldn't it hold it long enough to see if it would fire because there was a grinding sound coming from the t-belt area.
So after pulling it apart and trying to figure out whats going on, I noticed the back of the timing cover had grooves from the pulleys which leads me to believe it's that, but also as you can see alot of the pulleys have some rust on them. Does it come off after alittle run time? Or do I replace everything now? Has anyone head of the timing belt cover rubbing on them? The t-belt looks to be in great condition however it is also riding on the edges of the cam gears?
Any input is greatly appreciated!
