My Ebay 16g is holding up fine i run around 19psi and it is fine about 3500 miles in on the turbo. I did have trouble with the waste gate canister not opening , but i just switched my old canister over. I hope yours works good for you. Nice looking setup.

^^Why 200 miles?

I've heard good and bad about the ebay 16g's but I figured for a third of the price, I'll see how far one can go when it is installed properly (I hope) and broken in properly.

Visually it seems like its decent. You can see that it was balanced because the turbine and compressor wheel nuts are cut/ground.

Yeah I already adjusted the wastegate. I pressurized it with a bike pump and it dind't open till like 20 somethin psig. So I adjusted the actuator rod shorter. I think it will open at 8psig now.

Thanks for the example of running one successfully.

I agree that these turbo might not last as long as a real MHI turbo, but really how long is my engine going to last while I'm the mechanic anyway?

visually it looks good on the outside, but i would get the internals checked before u end up destroying more than just the turbo... like your motor

Everything but the turbo is fine. As far as that goes, the turbo is cheap because it is made the cheapest with the cheapest parts possible. I would use the manifold, and o2 but skip the turbo if you don't want to replace it any time soon. 16g's are pretty cheap, even used ones will probably have a longer life.

Best of luck to you! Hope to see some dyno results.
Ebay turbos are typically poorly balanced if at all. They use inferior bearings most times and weak turbine seal. The wheels are mainly made of "pot"metal which are very heavy compared to mhi wheels as well as less quality. You'll get some here and there that last for awhile, but most don't have a good success rate.
Since you're asking how it looks, It looks good!

My cousin has had an ebay style 16g on his car for a year or so, and it's been doing great. He runs 24psi most of the time, and dynoed 321hp 347torque last fall, basically stock besides the tune, injectors, exhaust, air filter, and E85. The only thing I've noticed is that it spools a little slower than my real evo 3 16g does. It was a heck of a deal for the $80 he paid for it used.

like my cousin jrohner said i have had one of these turbos for over a year at 24 psi some times more, and its holding up great awesome power more then most the guys with "real" evoIII 16gs have. so if you really feel like spending 500 or more for a real 16g and have the same power go ahead I know I am glad I didn't.

With the E-bay turbo's you hope you get one of the good ones. Sometimes you get a good one but most of the time it is bad. When I bought the car they had just put one on there and it was running ok but it was a little slugish. About 6000 miles later the shaft play began and it got worse quicker then it should have. If you wanna good tubro go to index you can get a ported big 16g for like $600 shipped.
