How come I never see some on 4G63's? I can understand Turbo 4G63's but what about N\As?

I've already got a extra Stock Intake Manifold I'm gonna use as a template and Fab up my own ITB's. I might do Dual Point Injection (2 Fuel Rails 2 Fuel PSI regulators 8 Fuel Injectors.)

Only thing I cant think about is what to do with the MAF...Don't really have problems like this with doing ITB's on Honda's because they don't have a Giant Brick for an MAF

You wouldnt be able to run a maf with itb's. The best way is dyno tuning it to the tps which requires a standalone. Also people usually only use itbs on high-rev, high compression n/a motors. Itb's aren't made for these cars because not many people are building high-rpm race n/a 4g63's. Then you have to make a throttle cable linkage, mount a tps. Alot more work and money compared to the same pwer from a turbo. I understand why you want them though they look sweet, sound good, no one else has them, and when done right they make the car a screamer. But imho not worth it.

I like your thoughts on this. I thought of trying this a long time ago but I lacked the knowledge on that setup, plus I couldn't afford the custom parts that need to make it work. At the very least you would need a stand alone to eliminate the MAS. Also an all motor setup usually requires HEAVILY modded internals and headwork to justify the ITB's. And considering how MASSIVE the stock ports are on the first gen heads, I'm guessing that video shows a guy using ITB's that actually REDUCED the amount of air that can flow into the head. My best guess is that the 50 mm plus setups used on the Honda K20's would work but anything less wouldn't. Also your looking at custom ground cams as well. The turbo cams available to us have minimal valve overlap to maximize power on a turbo motor. Where as an N/A motor would be better off with more duration and more overlap.

That guy in the video was running a distributer on that motor. Did anyone else catch that? I wonder why he did that instead of going with a coil on plug setup. It sounds to me like a lot of work to do when the easier route that makes more power is clearly with the turbocharger. But there's no price tag on bragging rights. And out here the guys that race still bi*** about boost every time I beat em. So maybe this would shut some of those people up. I hope to see someone follow through on this and end up with a nice finished product. I'll keep checking back to this thread.

Best of luck guys.

Thank you for the Feedback

I actually surprised as to the fact I thought I was gonna get flammed up the but for posting such an idea.

Thanks for not doing that....

I am going to be doing this on 2 dsm motors....I'm gonna try it first on my 4g37 when I pull it out. and if all goes well...I'll do it on my 2.0L

That is sick. Keep us posted on what you decide to do, I am very interested on trying this on a high comp 420a. Lots of work and lots of money, but as much as I have put into it already, it really wouldnt bother me to give it a try.

You could use a MAP sensor for tuning. One version of the 4age silver top motor uses a MAP sensor built into the throttle setup, it allows them to run with open throttle bodies like you're suggesting. Will be an interesting setup if you can pull it off, albeit a bit hondaish but its cool. :thumb: Or you could go with carbies off of motorcycles or something like that, I see that done to 4ac corollas everynow and then, but then it would be a sidedraft setup.

On alot of hondas they have problems tuning it by the map sensor. So alot of guys use the tps as the main way to tune. Because with the itbs at lot of times the map sensor reads atmospheric.

I'm a little week in the Engine Management area so PLEASE BARE WITH ME!

i was think since the sensors would be a problem then why not go and get a stand alone system for the F\A ratio and then cut off the computers control from controlling my F\A Ratio....

is that possible? and what would it take?

Id have to Take over control of the MAF, and my Fuel system, and eliminate my TPS?

pretty much turn it into a Carbbed motor.

Im probably gonna run a MAP sensor from the 2nd Gens.

That is not the MAP sensor that you want(I'll get more info on why later). You want to buy a 1-2 bar map sensor. Your best bet is to get a standalone, when it comes to ITBs your pretty much maxing out your N/A.

Lol I talked to the guy that does ITB's for the 4g63T and he wants an outrageous amount of money for the full setup. Although it's a nice setup it's way too much money.

I just wondered about trying an E-manage Ultimate for a setup like that. Since you can tune by TPS and use the Airflow output map to keep the ecu happy. I've tried it and disconnected the maf and got the vehicle to idle and drive.

Too bad I'm not building a 4g63T, nor do I want too, I'm Not the Turbo type of person unless its in a Skyline or Supra. I bought a 4G63 N\A motor for a reason. :notgood:

Even still, I wouldn't pay money (especially alot) for some one else to build me a motor\make me a Setup. That's just ricer IMO

I am Designing my own ITB's and Set up.

Spray is safe IF you know what you're doing... as for ITB's.. I'm going to be working on a set here VERY SOON.. I have a set on their way from missouri and should be here sunday. I am going to cheap out and couple them onto the remains of a stock intake manifold, then add a plenum around them. I'm just trying to learnt o spin jy own velocity stacks out of thinner metal instead of mahcining them from billet AL, then it will be put to the test on my car.. as it sits my last dyno was 431 (no Nitrous sprayed because i didn't have it on and jetted yet) so i'm hoping to keep all else the same and see what kind of gains i can make. The thread will be in the fab area VERY SOON
