Well the other day i was out in the garage having a cigarette and a beer(blue moon):p I noticed another stock 1g bov i had laying around, that was crushed. So i decided to put it on real quick. Well when i took off the other one, it had a crack all the way throughWTF
The bov was actually still functioning properly and boost was not even dropping off 1psi:hmm: Im assuming when tightened down it was still sealing pretty good i guess.

I'm assuming this was caused by over torquing the bolt, but I would assume the bolt would break off before this would happen to the bov, although it is cast aluminum
I would have never even noticed had it not been for me just randomly swapping the parts.
I've never seen it on the bunch that i've ever used
I was just curious if this happened to anybody else?

I'm very surprised that you noticed no ill affects. Do the car run any differently with the uncracked by-pass valve?

Ive never seen or heard of this happening. I dont know what would have even caused this. Any one else have any input?

I've never seen it other than this, i'm sure its happened though. Geez, how tight did i tighten it?LOL It wasn't hard to take off

I do run speed density:D so maybe that's why i didn't notice any ill effects. There really wasn't much if any improvement felt by switching them out:aha:
I'm curious to see if it would throw off a MAF car?

Im sure it would.
If you look in the last pic, it shows it almost how it would look bolted up. The valve is still shut and it looks like a very small crack by the bleed hole(which is where it split) Its possible it would seal up enough to not cause much, if any, vacuum issue or boost issue and may perform well still on a maf setup. Especially when it got hot and expanded. But i'm no scientist, just curious how frequent this is? I've been messing with dsms for 6years and this was a first.

you're running 600psi of boost.

:shhh: that's what i've been leaving out of this topicROFL

the flange "looks" straight. Im sure i added a few extra pounds of torque when tightening:sneaky: I just would have thought the crappy bolts would have broke before this
