Ok first off i tried searching just couldnt find anything

I just got my jdm 6 bolt in today and brought it to a local shop for them to put it in for me. Well i get a call the next day from them asking about the motor mounts being different, the turbo being different and my 7 bolt motor having an internal oil cooler and my 6 bolt motor having an external oil cooler. Well i called a friend of mine at another shop that is more familiar with these swaps and asked him about the oil cooler and he said all i have to do is swap the housing from the 7 bolt oil cooler over to the 6 bolt. I was just wondering if this was the right way to go about fixing this or if there is another way. Thanks in advance.

The best way would be to get the external oil cooler and hook it up to the provisions. The external is better than the internal at exchanging heat, but does take up more space and add complexity and weight.

Go external, no doubt. The internal cooler is integrated into the oil filter housing. Occasionally if the oil filter is overtorqued when it's installed the fins of the cooler get crushed and can cause coolant to leak into the oil, which is very bad. Go external, mount it in the driver's side opposite the stock intercooler location. There's plenty of info on this site about it.

so yall saying that the internal would work fine but the external would just be better?
