power transistors is good. and coils will be checked in a couple minutes. if they come out good then what else should i look at. does anyone have schematic or diagram to check volt / resistance / ohms.

any ideas?:ohdamn:

thanks but if i;m not mistaken the 1991 is slightly different

i checked connectors on harness to cam angle sensor and got 12 volts on connector 3 and 5.0 volts on connector 2

what sends voltage to the connector harness of the power transistor unit? I place the car to the on position and receive voltage from pin 3 and 6 which of course allows the signal to be received and fire on 1&4 cylinder. now when pin 2 and 3 is checked I have nothing. should have voltage from 1-5 (varying) and its dead. I checked connectors to ecu and ground which are good. could this be ecu or cam angle sensor?

i guess what i;m trying to ask is what sends voltage to the transistor? ecu, cam angle sensor or other?

k; PROBLEM FIXED! the ecu would not send a signal. I switched with my other ecu and now the car runs like its supposed to.

Thanks

The ECU receives the signals from the CAS, MAF, IAT, ECT, TPS, IPS, etc and processes them. It outputs signals to the Power Transistor, Injectors, BSC, Purge Solenoid, FPS, ISC, Fuel Pump.

Some of the inputs the ECU actually provides a bias voltage that the sensor pulls down. That's how the CAS and IPS signals work.

Did you open the case on your ECU to see if the caps had leaked. That's the most common cause of it failing.

one big black cap seemed like it may have had some corrosion around it. all good; that thing will be probably getting junked and i may just get a stand alone for my 1992

Hi every one i have the same problem but where do i find the power transistor unit in a Mitsubishi eclipse 99 420A???
