ive been comparing more parts again, and now im down to a clutch, how do zoom clutches work with our engines? i ordered one in and i felt like i had seen the same design before so i ordered the fidanza clutch in with the ceramic puck disk to match the stage 3 zoom. the springs inside the disk are exactly the same dimensions but i didnt doa a pressure test to see if they had the same tension. the puck from both look exactly the same. the fingers on the pressure plate felt to be the same and the release bearing looked exactly the same between the two, i did some research and i have yet to see anything on here about zoom clutches. im looking for as much info as i can from someone who has already dealt with them people who are currently using fidanzas are pretty happy with them for the most part. of course you have those few who dont like them but i havent read too much about those stories. any imput is welcome, thanks in advance!

The only experience I have had with zoom....was terrible.
Someone told me that zoom makes fidanza, which may be the case, but is hard for me to beleive. I have compared a dsm stage 2 fidanza clutch along side a stage 2 zoom clutch and i must say that the pressure plate design and strength of the zoom unit didnt compare at all to the fidanza one. Also, the zoom clutch worked great for 5k miles.....then it literally disentigrated, so.....thats reason enough for me to say no to zoom. So even if zoom does manufacture fidanza....they obviously manufacture the fidanza units to much higher standards.

Its actually Fidenza that makes Zoom. But its like buying that GT35R ebay turbo for $500 and wondering why your shaft is cracked after 1500 miles. My buddy bought one and I put it in his Acura Integra and one of the springs actually came out. Good parts cost money for a reason. So you don't have to replace everything it's connected to.

spec and act are both good and well known clutches. all im interested in now is the zoom/fidanza clutches. im thinking about using a fidanza clutch but i called them and fidanza themselves told me to go with a act2900 for the power goals im reaching. does anyone else have any experience with zoom?

Actually, Fidanza doesnt even make their own clutches. I was so concerned about this issue that I called Fidanza themselves and asked them. The only thing they could tell me was that they have their clutches made for them.

Go with an act clutch they are amazing! ( have a 2600)

there is a reason that there isn't a ton of people using those clutches.

always do ## rescearch twice buy once, buy quality and you'll never go wrong.
thats my thinking on building cars tho.

I'm not sure of your goals for your car but if your street driving but heading for the 11's or 12's nothing wrong with a 2100 or 2600 ACT clutch!:thumb:

if you bought the zoom clutch already, thats unfourunate either sell it or hope for the best.

Best of luck to you tho!

Well I work at advance auto parts. I can get an ACT clutch. I have 2 2600's but I was wondering when I upgrade if I should go with a zoom. oh no I didn't buy it. I ordered it in and it looked lke crap.LOL. I do however like the fidanza models. I have heard good things from them. I was looking at clutches I was looking at exedy and centerforce. But I guess I have always like ACT and im going to be buying a 2900 with a sprung 6 puck ceramic. <what is your opinon of that?

I work at advance as well. I ordered a stage 3 zoom. I hated it, it was the biggest waste of time i ever did, i returned it after it was installed because it caused so much noise it sounded like my trans was going to fall out. The clutch was so grabby it cause wheel hop an if you tried to slip the clutch a bit an let it come out slowly the car would shake i had to just dump the clutch every where i went i got my act 2600 an i LOVE it. Hardly any noise from hamonics an i love how it engages. If your going for more then 400 hp then get the 2900

Haha, Thats awesome you work at advance. We can actually order in some good stuff if you look hard enough. Thats were im getting my ACT clucth. I got almost everything for my car there. Between Advance Auto and Slowboy.... And I have a lotta crap.LOL. But yeah, im going with a 2900 act. I'd like to have a twin clucth but Im not looking for 750+ hp. <I WISH>

Ok guys if you dont know for sure then please do not say anything. Fidanza does NOT make zoom. Fidanza has their own line of flywheels, cam gears, etc. Zoom make their own clutches. Zoom and fidanza kinda teamed up and now fidanza sells ZOOM clutches but with different paint and a different name. THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME. Accordingly zoom sells flywheels and cam gears which fidanza makes.

Now that we have that straight... I have used a zoom stg 2 clutch for 3 years now with not a single problem. The first disc I had got ruined when I blew a motor and oil sprayed all over it causing a lot of chatter. So has many of my friends and they abuse the hell out them and they hold fine. I have seen some of the disc on here that have exploded and Im not really sure what caused that.

And to the guy who hated his stg 3 clutch. What did you expect when you ordered a ceramtic button disc? Those disc are made for the people who have enough power to slip the stg 2 disc. Of course your going to get gear chatter and harsher engagements with it. If thats not what you wanted then you shouldn't have ordered it.

You need to do some research on a clutch before you buy one. Its not one of those thing where you just buy the best out there and call it a day. If you want a nice driving DD then dont get a stg 3 disc. If you putting down 400AWHP and need more holding power then get a stg 3 but you cant expect it to drive like a stock clutch.
