basically i called up slowboy to get a price on a custom built engine

stage 6 head, ferrea valves +1 exh only, si dual valvesprings all new lifters rockers and arp l19p everywhere they fit.

decked, honed, o ringed, groden rods/ wiseco 1400 hd's, blueprint, balanced lightened crank oem 6bolt crank btw. acl bearings mitsu 4 layer hg. oh and ill be getting aluminum flywheel and driveshaft as well as solid motor mounts and a shep trans.

They guy at slowboy says it will be able to take well in excess of 1000 on supporting mods but im gonna stick with the hx35 ...for now..ill be happy with 700.

5800 not including freight does that sound like a good deal? just wanna make it bullet proof and im all or nothing. Thanks :)

I wish I would have went that route. But if you want 700whp then im pretty sure you will need somthing a little bigger than the HX35. Good luck.

Does it sound like a good deal? To me it sounds like a wetdream. I'll tell you what, if you want to save a few pesos on freight, have it shipped to my place. hahaha. ;););););)

Sounds like a deal, definitely worth the sum of its parts.

well i wont stop shopping around for now i have to see if i get a better price, 6k is a hard hit maybe someone else can do better :) hopefully (Crosses fingers) just gotta deal with the g/f (shes an Accountant) :beatentodeath:

anyone ever tried the toda pistons or their complete set? i was just browsing their site and i see some promising stuff but i havent heard much about them

If you tried to built the parts and have them machined it would cost you well over $7k so I would say thats a great deal.

I also agree on the motor being a good deal. If i had the money i would buy one hands down and cut to the chase to the modding.

You really believe that....:nono:

I spent a little over $7500 to completely "build" a long block and although my build is more extensive it adds up when you use good quality parts. Im sure you can do an ebay engine build for a couple grand or a few hundred but it sure wont get you in the 10s.

If you're stick with only a hx35 turbo you don't need to go so far unless you're planning on doing a stroker setup and a hx35 is not capable of 700hp. The flow rate is 60 lb/min. You maybe to cut 600hp.

LOL.... You're right... You got ripped off.

I can almost do two for $7500.:tease: Believe what you want..

Don't bring this subject up and you have no idea what it takes to build a stage 4+ longhead with ported, balanced, and blueprinted. I don't want to add up the total cost of the block, head, transmission, fabrication, etc...

:sosad:...

Your right ... I dont.....:shhh:

Since when was a transmission brought into the equation...... I've already talked to the OP... Babble on...

ANyone else needing an engine..... Pm me.

It depends on what kind of time restraint you're on. If you work as slow as I do, you can look until you find deals.

For instance, I just bought a freshly ported and decked head with 1mm oversized stainless valves and Crower springs / retainers for $399 on eBay for my AWD build. The head hasn't been used since all the work was done. What would something like that cost from Slowboy....$1300+? That sure frees up alot of money that I can put into other areas on the car. With myself doing the engine building, labor will obviously be 100% free, so I'm counting on having an engine built for under $2000 spent.

Thats a bit but, well, some things i can do on my own car, or find somone who i trust to do the work i cant. For example a napa shop did my head and block work, basically a short block and head. ITs stock but i worked on most of it myself. good buy i guess.

Not sure what you mean by this.....but you're invited to check out the mod list for either one of my cars- please let me know if you find something of Chinese origin.

The head was on eBay for 10 days- it's not like it was hidden; although it's a wonder we can find anything for our cars on that site that isn't buried beneath page after page of knockoff turbos, intercoolers, and blow off valves.

WHOA WHOA WHOA! WAIT A SECOND!!!

Was not in any way referring to you. Referring to eBay and the swamp it has become. I apologise for any misunderstanding.

No big deal, I just wasn't understanding what you meant. I thought maybe you were accusing me of building a car using eBay parts, and that's not the case. I was simply stating that eBay is still great place to find deals on good parts for our cars, even though it's been dubbed a junk site for the past few years. I've bought and sold lots of goodies on eBay over the years.

No hard feelings. :thumb:

Yeah homie thats a good deal that list is very impressive and it even include a shep trans ...all i would say is u need a bigger turbo than the hx35 ...if u willing to spend that much on your setup i would go with a garrett gt42 why hold that motor back ..u could make 7000-900 easy on that motor with the GT42....well i wish i had the paper to buy something like that but shop around theres a lot of good enginr builders in the DSM world ....and good luck keep us updated on what u get ..:thumb::talon::talon:
