Ok, i've been on 10,000 DSM sites and asked and searched for the same question and everyone gives me a different answer.

Will a 1G n/t tranny bolt up to a 1G turbo motor?!? Some people say you need the n/t flywheel and clutch, some say you dont that it will bolt right up. Some say the n/t tranny will bolt up but is weaker, some say it will bolt up and is just as strong. What in the hell is the truth?

yes you could bolt up a n/t tranny to a turbo motor. like you said in your post, you can but it will be weaker. n/t trannies are not built to take the punishment that turbo trannies can take. i wouldnt recomend leaving that tranny in the car forever, but it will be fine if you need to use the car or EASY DD untill you get a new one.

Don't reuse the clutch unless it's practically brand new. The stock clutch is junk regardless, it slips badly at less than 300whp.

And don't bump your threads.

I'm not talking about re-using the actual clutch that is it in now. I meant stock as in the same type of clutch and flywheel AKA Can I use the turbo clutch with the n/t tranny?

The FWD NT clutch and flywheel is different than the FWD turbo clutch and flywheel. Oh and the AWD is different as well. The NT trans has a lower HP rating than the turbo trans so don't beat up on it, otherwise say goodbye to the synchros.

So the n/t tranny will bolt up to the 4G63T using my turbo flywheel and clutch correct? Sorry for bumping before. If I have to buy an n/t flywheel and clutch i'll just wait till I can get a turbo tranny.

NO! The turbo flywheel is different from the n/t. Wait for a turbo transmission. period.

Dont get your panties in a bunch man, No one would ever give me a straight answer, just because the flywheels are different doesnt mean squat as long as the tranny will physically bolt up over it. Tons of people claim that the two transmissions are internally EXACTLY the same except for lower gearing in the N/T. But I guess if the n/t tranny wont bolt up over the stock turbo fly/clutch i'll just wait

But that's not true. The 1.8L were 4G37s. I would make sure I had a trans from a n/a 4g63 car to try this.

Yeah, I know I was talking about the 2 litre engines. I know someone has done this before but it seems like no one is for sure if it will work. If the tranny's are physically the same size then I wouldnt see a problem. I dont see why Mitsu would make the tranny's exactly the same except make the n/t bellhousing smaller. Anyone got a tape measure? LOL

why would you want the non turbo transmission?

Because they are dirt cheap and plentiful and from what i've may actually be the same as a turbo tranny internally. I can go through 3 or 4 n/t trannys before it will amount to the price of 1 turbo tranny. Plus i'm saving up for a Shep tranny next year, so I dont wanna have to drop $400+ on a stock tranny

I Know For A Fact From Experience That N/t And Turbo Clutches And Fly Wheels Are Different....

Never said they were the same, I know they are different. The question is can an n/t tranny physically bolt up over a turbo flywheel and clutch. I was stating that I didnt see why Mitsubishi would make the bellhousings different sizes. If they ARE different sizes though, is the bellhousing removable?

I just found out that the 4G63 and 4G63T tranny's both have the same size bellhousing, it's the 4G37's that have the smaller flywheel and clutch. Both the turbo and n/t 4G63 use a 215mm clutch

Look simply put.. the crank for any 4G63/4G63T is the same so there for the flywheel and the clutch are interchangeable(just keep in mind that the sizes are different).

Just make sure that whatever trans you get, the flywheel, clutch, slave cylinder, and slave cylinder rod are the ones that came with the trans..

Sory jus a little tipsy......... just do it.

You want a straight answer here it is.

The flywheels and clutch are different.
The clutch from a stock nt will not take stock boost levels.
The act 2600 for the nt is stronger than the transmission's 3rd gear is.
The turbo crank has a dowel pin that aligns the flywheel, you have to grind this off to use the nt flywheel.

Now that I didn't know. I have the turbo FWD trans, ACT 2100 clutch, and Fidanza flywheel on my NT. Only thing is the trans slightly touches the sub frame due to its larger size.

LOL, all i've wanted to know from the beggining is if the 4G63 n/t tranny will physically bolt up to the motor with the turbo clutch and flywheel.

I tried using the turbo flywheel and clutch opn my n/t tranny and bolted right up.But the motor would not turn cause the pressure plate was jamming against the bell housing, seems from what i have experienced, the n/t has less clearance in the bell housing than the turbo.Bottom line the only way for it to work like i have it right now,is to use the n/t flywheel.i lost second gear though synchros gone.
