dear all

i just want to share with you what happened to me yesterday :(

i was driving on the highway at 120 KMPH and suddenly i heared a strong sound (coming from the passenger side TIRE) the Plastic cover that is covering the intercooler from the TIRE got broken and it made a big hole in the intercooler and the radiator down hose and it also destroyed my tire ( I LOST INTERCOOLER/ TIRE/ and PIPE ) thank god i was able to control the car after this accident on this speed.

cani just weld the intercooler or i just need a new one ? and now also i need a new plastic cover that i will never ever find here :(

:toobad:

It would be a little bit of a pain, but you could just make a new cover out of sheet metal and bolt it in there so hopefully it will protect things better than the plastic one did.

thanks all for your replies , i will go and weld it today

plastic cover is not available at Mitsubishi here at all ( i have to customize one or if i am lucky i will find one in the junk yard.

i can not drive the car so i will have it towed to garage where i need to weld and change tire and change the pipe and the coolant and hopefully i will not have any boost leaks

its just bad i was not abusing the car and i was just driving normaly and look what happened to me :( :( :( DSM for life :)

Do you have any idea why the plastic cover broke?
I currently have a plastic cover from the junk yard installed that already has a crack around the outer screw. (I didn't want to modify the original part with additional holes for the SMIC in case I will get a FMIC someday)

i think it got broken because of the speed or maybe it had a crack that i did not see

fix the crack on yours and avoid the pain that i took from this damn plastic

PS. i welded the intercooler and now everything is fine , however i still do not have a plastic cover
:(

The stock sidemounts often have pin holes from flying rocks....... a screw or anyt hing similar could have bounced off they tire and punctured the inter cooler.

Plus, some times freak accidents happen.

i agree, but thats not what he says. it also took out his tire AND lower rad. hose.
i was trying to tell him that the piece of plastic was not the cause of it all, but i guess he knows everything.

Everyone settle down.

He asked a simple question that doesn't require a forensic analysis.
