check your spark plugs wires if they are plugged correclty

if your alternator was bad the car would simply be running off the battery. Until of course the battery is completely dead.

the only thing i would suggest is looking over your positive and negative on the alternator and like you mentioned the resistor pack.

Now if what your saying is you crank it but it never comes on well that can be a few things, but just to be safe make sure everythings tight before assuming anythings wrong

your car turns on generally your battery is good, your altenator charges your battery and keeps your car running, check your connections before you start buying new parts though, tighten everything down try it then if it still doesnt work probably your altenator.

False. If the battery is charged enough to crank the car, chances are it's not the alternator.

Motor turns over but doesn't start. You are missing fuel, spark, or compression.

I just had an issue with my alt as well. it was back feeding and causing the car to die at idle. it would go in and out of charging, and finaly just stopped yesterday. so you cant completly rule out the alt. they are funny pieces sometimes. expecialy when you get oil in them. good luck

i was referring to the part in which he says (doesn't stay on) if his car starts then turns off most likely its an alternator, and i will work on the grammar too used to text on the phone my fault.

If your alternator was shot, more than likely you will not be able to roll your windows up/down as well as your radio will not turn on, and you will have weak lighting. Do you have any of these symptoms? Did you check your alternator fuse?
