hey guys.

im going to start a project tsi awd next spring (get a car with a blown motor:rocks:), and im going to pull the motor, and do a rebuild. im just kind of browsing through parts, and i wanna make sure i got most of everything. im going to start out with something around a 16g-50 trim size, and work my way up to a FP 3065 when i have more experience, and im ready to take it that far. here is what i got so far.

Manely ptatinum series pistons (.020 over)
manely turbo tuff I beam rods
Arp main and rod bolts
ACL Race series main and rod bearing
Balance shaft eliminator kit
mitsu 4 layer headgasket
all oem parts (gaskets pumps belts)

ARP headstuds
272 or 280 cams ( need some advice here)
Springs and retainers ( need some advice here)

Im just trying to kind of gather up all the parts here, and see where im at. obviously there will be much more involved here with machining, assembling, E.C.T, but i can take care of all of that. i just wanna make sure i get good parts, and can build something that is rock solid (as if there was such a thing LOL). ive been researching for awhile, and they seem like good parts, but im sure most of you have more experience than me, so let me know what you think. Also this car will be a 2nd gen, probably a 95, or 96, and im sticking with the 7 bolt as well.

thanks for the help. it is greatly appreciated. feel free to give advice on anything, and everything. sorry if I spelled anything wrong, im so excited to get started :rocks:, and it isnt even gonna happen for like 6 months LOL. Anyway feel free to chime in on whatever you like.

My suggestion would be to find yourself a 6-bolt motor and head and send it to a machine shop and have the block and head done. My build has taken me six months up to this date, and I am near completion. If you haven't bought any parts yet, decide what kind of cams you plan on running? Decide this now, and buy your valve springs and valves and start working on your head first. Let a machine shop do this for you. That's what I did. :thumb:
