i was at import faceoff last weekend and i talked to a guy that drives a 92 talon about my cooling problems.
he told me that he has never seen of heard of a cracked 1G head and that i need to run a stock mitsu metal head gasket on my car.
im getting alittle air in my cooling system, found no pressure loss with a cooling system pressure test and found no exhaust gasses in the cooling system with a exhaust gas tester.
he told me that doesnt matter and the head gasket is bad. he told me to go get the head milled and get a mitsu metal head gasket and my problem will be solved.
does everyone concur???

i want to make sure i havent missed anything before itake the head off AGAIN. like has anyone herd of boost pressure leaking into the coolant system from the turbo??

FYI- i have replaced every hose , the thermostat, the water pump, and the heater core. thaks for any help.

My girlfriend's car had a cracked head and slowly was eating coolant. We just had to add some ever couple weeks to keep it all nice. The cracks were tiny and right between the 2 valves. Her car is a 1.8L though, but still an iron block/ aluminum head combo.

I think he meant to say you possibly have a blown head gasket. Do a leak down test or a compression test.

+1 This is the first step I would take. I have had many-a-head gasket blow in my day and you seem to have the right symptoms. does it seem to have lost a little power or does the exhaust smell sweet with a white tint?

i have done a compression test and my compresion is fine, did a cylinder leakdown test and had no leakdown. i did a cooling system pressure test at 20 PSI and had no leakdown in 2 hours time. i have no loss of power and no sweet smelling or white exhaust. the guy i talked to said that no test would show it while ideling, but when i add boost to the mix it is seeping throught the head gasket.

has anyone heard or seen boost leak into the cooling system from the turbo??

My roomate had the same problem on his 2g with no other problems that we could find. Retorqued the head and it went away. Hopefully it's that easy for you.

i retourqued the head, and it didnt help, the tourque was good. i want to test the turbo to see if im getting boost pressure into the cooling system from the turbo. has anyone herd of this happening before?
