Hey,

I was wondering if the coolant sensors are the same for 1G/2G?

I'm going to go get a knock sensor for my 1G out of a 2G, and I want to take the coolant sensors too if they work, and maybe the wire harness that goes to the coolant sensor and CAS and TPS.

Let me know, I'm headed over there soon.

Thanks

The knock sensor won't work. You can search and find this out if you don't believe me.
Why do you want a 2g knock sensor anyway? Phantom knock? Missing the black goo?

The coolant temp sensors should be the same as long as it has the same connector.
It's possible that the resistance of the sensor could vary slightly. I'm sure someone can step in and verify this.

Well I was told when you can feel oil around your knock sensor, that means it's going out soon.

So, I checked into upgrades if I was gonna replace the knock sensor. There was a lot of people saying the 2G knock sensor is the same size as the 1G and was more sensitive to knock. They went on to say the 1G knock sensor works poorly and applys the knocks it find to much later making changes for the knock.

So, I though, why not get a 2G knock sensor?

The black goo/oil is a definite sign of it going bad. Get an OEM 1g one from extreme psi and don't look back. I'm running the autozone brand and i wish i would've went with OEM simply because of better quality control on OEM products.

On this forum? I don't think so, maybe i haven't see the thread though.

I'll tell you that both knock sensors work good, in fact too good as they are both very sensitive. Most people have problems with them being too sensitive, hence the phantom knock code in dsmlink, keydriver chips, etc.

Research phantom knock.
