i bought a used apexi n1 exhaust about a year and a half ago, the muffler itself had rust and it went though the muffler not the piping, where it connects to the piping the back end of the muffler. it took a crap on me looks and sounds like crap now. i just was wondering if i can just buy a new muffler and weld it on or buy me a new catback exhaust. and where can i buy a muffler with a 3 inch inlet to match my exhaust piping.
thanks pm me.

You can just buy another muffler and have it welded onto you exhaust pipe. You will not need the whole cat-back system if the rest of your pipe is not rusted out. As far as where to buy a muffler, the choices are endless depending on what you want and your budget. There are numerous vendors on this site and all will have pretty much what u are looking for.

^^^ Yep, if your a bit on a budget, On my old car I got a Universal Turbo N1 like muffler from ebay and was pretty happy with it. Sounded the same and held up fine, people say they might rust after a while but just take care of it, buy some polish and you should be good.

make sure you check the rest of the piping since there could be rust in other places and if everything else is good a universal muffler will do.

I agree with polishing the muffler because it does rust quick because it is not coated:beatentodeath:

so it should sound the same but what about performance wise?
i found this on ebay what do you guys think? something differnt same angle as the n1 i think i should look half way decent.

oh really? i didnt think that would of really make it louder, just wanted something differnt than getting another n1 or a knock off to many ppls got that kind of style.

Any advice for a new N1 owner to keep it from rusting? What kind of polishing?

i dont know but the apexi n1 is slanted so salt and all that good stuff gets trapped in the bottom in the winter i believe it started from the inside out, my cousin had one on his old civic and the same thing started as well must be a apexi thing in the midwest?
