Will a 95gst work with a 96 non-eprom ecu?

My dad told me that if I can get my ecu to work on his car that he would give me his (which happens to be eprom). Would this work or would it be too much of a hassle? I know i can put the eprom on my car, but how would it work for his?

My car is a 96gsx and his is a 95gst. I really want to do this because I'm going to be getting dsmlink soon.

We have the same CAS so i don't think i'll have to change the firing order for him right?

it should work just fine, my car had a epom in it and it went bad than i bought a non epom and at the time i did not know the differents and it worked fine, than i swaped it oput when i got dsm link.

Yes, it should work. You should REALLY thank your dad (buy him a 6-pack)! :thumb:

I wish my dad was into DSMs.

Edit: Just realized, you may not be 21. In that case, maybe dinner.

Well I don't think he even wants to mod his gst. Its bone stock and he's not interested in molesting it... so he doesn't really care as long as his car still runs afterwards. but I may just have to buy him a motorcycle jacket this Christmas to match his '07 GSXR.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses. Looks like i bagged myself a free eprom ecu:cool:

95 cas signal is inverted and the firing order is different.... otherwise it will work just fine.

I thought 95 and 96s were the same. At least according to this, taken from DSMchips...

Cam/CAS Inversion - This feature is necessary when using the 1995 ECU on a 1997+ car, or if you have done a 6-bolt swap. The 97+ and 1G sensors put out an inverted CAS signal, which changes the injector firing order. This CAS Inversion fixes the injector issue, but you still need to swap plug wires 1&2, and 3&4 if you have a 1997+ car, or have done a 1G 6-bolt swap.

This is one of the features.

Well, if the firing order is the only thing that might be affected then I'm just going to go ahead and do the swap. Not that big of a deal. But now I have to decide whether to just get dsmlink now or wait for v3:confused:

i would get the v3 b/c you can opt for the gm cable to use instead of buying a maf translator its only 70 dollars. vs $199-$260and one less thing under the hood to cause clutter
