weird wiring and where does this go?

So when I bought my car all the gauges work but none of them light up. and I was taking a look at it and found this weird wire that had a connector at the end of it but was alos tapped into already. Can any of you shine some light on what they are what to do and where they go.

for a light i tapped into my cigarette lighter and to turn on my gauges i turn on my fog lights(i always turn them on anyways because they look cool ) but that was on my old dsm. on my new dsm im not sure where its tapped, i bought the car with a boost gauge in it already

My gauge is connected on the wires of the dim switch (located on the top of you left foot). Its the green wire.

I looked again today and still didnt find anything....

You might as well start over and rewire the whole thing on a working line.

2nd Gen Wiring Diagram

I used that when wiring my boost gauge. I'd just start over as who knows what wrong wires the previous owner tapped into.
