Front driveshaft problem

This is my first time removing my drive shafts from my GSX and Im replacing the front driver side axle and need to know what the intermediate shaft and the axle look like when separated. I bought a new axle today and it looks like it goes to the passenger side. My driver side axle looks like it slips over the intermediate shaft, but my new axle has shafts with splines on both sides. this is a cheesy example but the shaft I pulled out dips in like my little pic here [--- while the new shaft has a splined shaft on both ends. let me know if I have the right part or what not if you understand this.

This is what mine looks like that I pulled off the intermediate shaft,

The new one I bought looks like the passenger side with spline shafts on both sides. I didnt know if the splined shaft came out of the intermediate shaft.

That's the passenger side. The driver's side would have a bracket to bolt it behind the block.

yes and those bolts tend to come loose or break. I just went through that.
