I was finishing up the car and went to put the timing cover on and noticed one of the bolt holes had no threads behind it. I found this laying on the floor and went F*CK. I beleive this goes on the firewall side of the engine just below the cam gear, am I right. The plug is for the tensioner tool or am I wrong.

If this part belongs were I think it does then do I need to pull the timing belt and install this piece or can I leave it off (I think I know the answer).

Yep, you need to re-do the timing belt... That is the rear "tin" that mounts to the block. It goes under the driver's side motor mount... Since the motor mount has the t-belt's pulley mounted to it, it all will need to be removed in order to install the "tin".
Good Luck

BTW, I love the Hyundai valve cover!

...i dont think i have ever taken something apart and back 2gether without having something left over...but thats a big part LOL...good luck
