So I posted a thread a while back ago. Asking what could be wrong with my 96 GSX. I think that I have found the problem. I rebuilt my motor while I was at Wyotech, and while I was rebuilding my motor, I installed a Walbro 255. but I broke that lil black clip that helps hold the fuel pump in. So I just put it back together.

After i got the car back together it started but when I go to drive it once I hit about 3 or 4 grand it stops going unless I shift. I can only get up to 40 in 5th. I hooked up a AFPR and I get about 25-30 psi of fuel pressure but I lose it as soon as I shut off the car.

So I think that clip broke helps hold the o-ring in straight. Has anyone had this problem or have any other ideas to fix it? If not I have to buy a hole new sending unit and it cost $200 from thedsmgraveyard.com.

Help Please And Thank you For your time!!:dsm::dsm:

Thanks everyone for your help. The problem was that little black clip that i broke. I bought a new fuel sending unit from TheDsmGraveYard.com for $200. Because I couldn't find just that black clip... SO I WOULD NOT BRAKE THAT CLIP THAT HOLDS IN YOUR FUEL PUMP!!! Thanks again for the help!!:dsm::dsm:
I haven't done a fuel pump swap...YET...but i've done some looking into how too, and I believe everything Iv'e read about doing them, says that breaking that black clip isn't good. that, or you just have a bad fuel pump.

as for the 40 mph in 5th, it's probably just because the fuel pressure isn't high enough for anything more then those rpms.

I have been looking every where for a sending unit and that one on Dsmgraveyard is all i can find! But i know that i dont have a fuel leak any othere place. I pretty sure is just that o-ring keeps getting pushed down and letting fuel back in to the tank. And as far a the 5th thats what i think to so... thanks everyone so far:dsm::dsm:

I need to look at my parts car but i may have a sending unit i will sell you. Ill go look at it tomorrow and let you know if you wind up needing 1.

Yeah please look and let me know if you have one!

I most likely will need it but I want to see what else people say on here, to make sure that is what I need but I'm almost 90% sure that I will need.

Thanks Bro :dsm::dsm:
