Turbo Manifold

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Sure it looks great on their listing, but look around at what they look like after some abuse.
Cracked welds, warped flanges, and rust will be the most common elements of a used eBay tubular manifold.
Some people have them braced to make them stronger, but it's just a band-aid to cover poor materials and design.

A ported 2g or Evo3 manifold is all most people will ever need. If you feel you need something a little more "race" take a look at the Forced Performance cast manifolds.

That manifold doesn't exactly look bad, but there is no way to tell how well it will perform for you. People have said bad things about XS, and SSAC manifolds but then again I've seen people who have had great success with SSAC manifolds. I think most of the bad comments about SSAC manifolds is just a few people have tried them and had bad luck and they tell someone and then that person tells someone and now from one person using it, 30 people are saying how crappy they are.

I've seen people rave about Magnus intake manifolds, and I've seen people complain about leaks, and welds coming loose under just 35psi so you tell me what to think.

I would get one of the FP Manifolds, if you go with one of the Ebay manifolds this is what happens...

For the price I'm sure its to good to be true. I just really like the looks of these particular manifolds. I'm not really into the bling bling stuff but I do like em. Guess I'll settle for a 2g. I think mine's got a crack.

I have a pacesetter manifold that is jet coated and it hasnt cracked at all.

I loved it I just cant find a gasket to put it on my 91. The Felpro gasket wont work on that manifold. So right now Im using a stock 1 g manifold.

DO NOT WRAP THE MANIFOLD IN THAT HEAT WRAP...THAT'S WHY IT CRACKED!!! Re read the wannanty that came with it..If you wrap it thet don't cover it under warrenty....If you want to do something like that. Send the manifold out to get ceramic coated, it's like 14 bucks a foot or something..Plus will increase both horsepower, and keep engine bay temps down...Decreasing intake air temps....

most of the older 1G manifolds will crack but wont hurt anything...Get a 2g manifold, port it and ceramic coat it.....

See this guy knows about getting it coated. It works don't it???

As its been said, alot of guys do well with them, and alot of guys don't.
I have the same story, which I'll continue to tell. A friend of mine had a 10.80 CRX with the SSAC manifold, wastegate, etc, and it never cracked. It rainbowed and bronzed in color, but never cracked...so, that's how I feel about that. If he can go 10's, it cant be all bad.

Some dsm dudes have gotten them, welded braces on, and not had a problem, maybe that may be a route to go.

What I think?
If you are DESPERATE for a manifold, grab a 2g mani. If you have a lil more time, grab a 2g mani/E3 mani and port it. And to do a lil more, for the 150 you'd spend on this, have someone you trust hold it for you, or put it somewhere where it's tough to get to. Then, once u scrap together another 150, grab up that FP race mani, and call it a day.

2g mani is real cheap. But the FP mani is really durable and will get the job done with out worries. For

now im using the ebay turbo xs and it seems fine.
