Alternative Knock Sensor 1G

Has anyone ever tried using a knock sensor designed for a different application such as a GM or other make and model in a 1G. Perhaps something less sensitive than Mitsubishi's design?

I don't know if there is any truth to this, but I have heard that using 3G lifters will pretty much elimanate knock..

You could use a J&S Safeguard but they are pretty pricey. J&S Electronics SafeGuard Indivdual Cylinder Knock Control

I recommend using 3g lifters to help control phantom knock (knock when out of boost) and if that doesn't take care of it you can try a chip from DSMchips.com with a phantom knock code in it.
