Hello all, I just recently started posting but I've been on these forums for a while now, and been in the DSM/EVO community even longer. I finally purchased my 'real' DSM (Had a 2GNT previously) so I'm anxious to get some parts for it.

I know this topic has been beaten to death by a stick but I would really like other DSMer's opinions on my personal path. Here is what my upgrade path is looking like:
http://72.29.68.123/~spikefd/yoshie/priv/pdf/Eclipse Upgrades.pdf

By the way, every price is overestimated just for financial reasons. My questions are:

1. Should I invest in a datalogger before everything else? I feel it will kind of be a waste if I'm going with DSMLink in the future.
2. You think I am skimping on the suspension (or is it that important)? Do I need struts?
3. Anything else I'm missing?

I'm looking towards a daily driven 350+whp car after I get the holset (which won't be until probably spring of next year). And I'm doing all the maintenance beforehand (motor/tranny oil change, belts, pulleys, hoses, comp test etc etc).

Thanks! :thumb:

Doesn't look bad, but it depends on what you are actually looking for out of your car. Are you building it to go in a straight line, or are you building to autocross?

Honestly to save you money on what you have budgeted, take off the paint job, the front lip, the HID kit and you will save 1700. Next go with a ebay FMIC kit, and you will save another 1000. Find a used holset for 300 bucks and rebuild it for 100, that will save you 600. Save some more money get rid of the prosport electric series and go with the mechanical guages, they are more acurate anyways, that will save you another 100. You don't need a short shifter, that will save you another 200.

That is $4000 in savings of stuff. Now you have money for some KYB AGX Struts/Shocks, strut bars, and even sway bars. And plus, browse through the classifieds, because their are parts that are good always flying for cheap, because once you build a DSM you will never sell it whole, everyone will part it out. Good luck with it. Just ask if you need anymore help.

Also dont go cheap with your suspension setup. Your front wheel drive the better your suspension the better your going to hook up. I would still go with a datalogger its a good tool for tuning and can be had for under $100. Now if your are planning on going with DSMlink, I would go with a much bigger injector like 950's or 1050's. As for your clutch I would go with the 2600 w/street disc instead of the 2100.

Not a bad setup i did similar and i havent dynoed yet but im really liking the way it pulls. Oh and if you need an intake pipe i have a nice black injen one with red injen couplers that i will sell for 75 shipped. i can send u a pic if you like. the only reason im not using it is because i have a 1g and it came with a 2g maf and it wont fit. (i had to order dejon)

Dude 950s or 1050s are way to freaking big unless you plan on building a 800-1000 horse FWD. Stick around 650s or 750s. That is all you need. And if you need a clutch I have a used 2600 with pressure plate and street disc I would get rid of for $100.

They are not to big if your running DSMlink. The thing with 650 or 750 injectors is what if he decides to upgrade later down the road, he will have to buy bigger injectors. Also with 950's or 1050's with DSMlink his car will idle and drive the same as it would with 650's or 750's. You need to do alittle bit more reading before giving advice like that. Also read the rules, you cant sell things outside the classifieds, thats what we have PM's for.

Dont go with the street disk on a front wheel drive. Once you glaze the disk you will be walking home. If you want to get tracktion in a fwd you should get the act 2600 with a 6 puck (because you will need to slip it to get tracktion and trying to slip the street disk is what causes the problem). I already made the street disk mistake.

This is why I went with 880 cc injectors. They are good for anything I want to do with 93 oct and race gas. If I ever went with E85 they will still support around 500hp but I would get bigger injectors if I were to do that.

Thanks a lot of the advice so far.

The exterior/interior modifications aren't priority so that is saved pretty much after I get everything else completed. What I'm going to be purchasing soon is pretty much everything I had in Stage 1 so far. So add in struts/shocks, sways and a datalogger with it also?

I've been browsing the classifieds/dsmtrader/dsmtalk almost every second and I'm on a close eye for parts I need. But if I can't find it by end of this year, I guess I'm going to have to purchase it new.

So so far I need to get struts/shocks, sways, ACT 2600, Mech Gauges, and 750 or 880 inj? I'm planning to go 50/50 injection... but that is wayyyyy into the future so I don't think that should be a concern at the moment.

I was planning on getting a UEGO after I get my hx35, that should be fine right? Only because I feel $300 could be better spent on something I can benefit from starting out.

Also exhaust I have been debating on. I keep changing my mind, initially I wanted the Apexi N1, then changed to the ebay N1's, then changed to Thermal R&D, then changed to Buschur 3" and back and forth. There are just so much mixed reviews on this forum that I can't get a definite answer. So what do you guys suggest? Go for the Apexi N1 initially or save some $$ and get a ebay exhaust?

Also getting a data logger isnt a big deal. I just bought a whole set up for $60. All you need is a cheap palm, the cable (which is what will cost you the $) and free software from the internet
