ok i have a 1995 tsi with a 91 motor in it... i just replaced the plugs put a whole new k an n filter on it a new rear o2 sensor and a new valve cover... i took my car for a drive last night and it was running fine then after a while i went to make a shift and the car died.. i havent been able to get it started back up it will crank and crank but wnt turn over PLEASE what would the problem be i need the car fixed asap

A car needs 4 things to start...

1) spark
2) fuel
3) compression
4) timing

I would start checking everything thoroughly and narrowing down what it could be. Come back and post your results, then we can help you more.

i had the timing belt replaced just over a month ago and the car has plenty of feul how would i check spark

Spark - Take one spark plug wire off the spark plug and place it on the valve cover. Have someone crank the car and check to see if it's sparking. Repeat the process with each spark plug wire one at a time.

Fuel - Unplug your coil pack so the engine doesn't spark. Basically do the same thing as above. Take each injector out of the head and leave the injector clip/harness on. Place a rag under the injector and crank the car. Check to see if the rag's wet with gasoline. Repeat with each injector one at a time. It's very important to unplug your coil pack though, the spark can ignite the gasoline being sprayed outside the head and start a fire under on your engine...Don't ask how I know this. :coy:

Compression - You need a compression checker to do this, it's basically a gauge that screws into the spark plug well and while you crank the car it shows what the compression is. You can pick it up at a local auto store (Pep Boys, Autozone, Napa, etc). There should also be a write-up on here or VFAQ with directions if you need it.

My guess is it's either spark or fuel. Also check all the important sensors and make sure everything's hooked up and no wires are shorting. Check the CAS and crank position sensor as well. If you had a 1g the coolant temp sensor would prevent the car from starting as well.

ok i tried each spark plug and none of them let off a spark so what would the problem be

It's most likely your coil pack. Do you have a spare that you can put in and test it? If not, see if you can borrow one from a friend or fellow dsmer. If all else fails check the classifieds on here, you can usually find a coil pack for under $50 shipped.

ok now the coil pack is the black box that the spark plugs run into right how do i unplug it the two bolts on the side ot the two screws near the top

or where there is no spark is it more the likely just to be that the pack went bad

any auto repair manual sould give directions for checking a coils condition with a multimeter, but I agree it sounds like a coil.
