Does the HKS bov leak?

So I have a Turbo XS RFL bov and it seems that it has the tendency to leak. When I pull up to a stop sign, step on the clutch and brake, the idle drops soooo low, that it tends to die more than half the time. I'm gunna sell the RFL and was thinking about getting a HKS SSQV version 2. Since it's dual chamber, should that bov fix the problem? Or do I need to recirculate or vent it? I really don't wanna do anything that would amplify the sound, but thought I'd ask you guys if the HKS bov would prevent the leaking.

you need to recir it and they dont leak if its a real one

i think they can hold like 50psi an be fine,

hmm,, I have the HKS SSQV style one and I recirculate. But I do experience the low drop of rpm when braking/stopping,. Is it possible that its the BOV causing it to do that??? sorry not trying to steal the post or anything just wondering because I to wanna upgrade and get the REAL DEAL HOLYFIELDS!!!

Hah I actually switched from an XS RFL to an SSQV.
Trust me you'll be much happier with it, the design is way superior in my mind (and as an added plus it sounds MUCH better.)

Are you serious? I have a turbox's type h-rfl and it sounds sexy hehe

Ya, I don't know, guess it's preference. I like the the high pitched sound of the big spring in that HKS where as the RFL was more of a "whoossh" ROFL (for lack of a better term)

So am I going to experience the same problem with the HKS bov if I DON'T recirculate?

You will have that problem with every BOV unless you have something to account for the change in A/F ratio by not recirculating. I.E: MAF Translator. Even then you have to have it dialed in correctly or it won't help you out.

I had the HKS SSQV v2.0 and it did not leak at all. I had it recirculated though. My car did not bog when breaking or idling.

I do reccommend it. It's not as loud as the Type-S, but you can definately hear it, and that's with it being recirculated, too. It will not fail you. Great product. :dsm:

So even the the HKS bov is recirculated, it's still pretty loud? I want it for performance, but also sound as well.

I also went from a RFL to a new HKS. I would recommend the HKS to anyone. Also mine is recirculated and it is plenty loud.

You either have an incorrectly set ISC, BISS, or a vacuum/boost leak. My .02 is on the leak. It might be the BOV, it might be somewhere else. My car had the same issue, turned out it was a massive leak. Do a BLT and see what happens.

It's only recirculated if you buy the recirculation kit, like an extra $40. It's not as loud as Type-S... but it still sounds nice!

So it still sounds the same, but not as loud? Is it at least loud enough for people on the street to notice?

I'm looking at the link you guys gave me for the HKS SSQV recirculation kit...what does "For Vehicles w/o VPC" mean?

This is the only HKS SSQV recirculated video I could find on YouTube (and coincidentally is an Eclipse GSX! =P). I commented the guy and asked if he could post a couple more videos. I wanted to see a video with the camera inside the car, and a couple revs at idle. For those who have recirculated their HKS bov, does it really sound like it does in the video?
