My car is having problems starting. Everything in my car turns on. But when I try to start it the radio and stuff shuts off and you hear clicking noise from the engine bay. Also last night I tried starting it with the Hood open and sparks came flying off my battery.. Its done this to me one other time and both times it has been right after its rained. So I'm thinking something might be getting wet and shorting the battery out.. Do you guys have any idea what might be causing this?.. The only electrical added stuff is a boost guage and the p.o.s. lightshow wideband.

Since your saying you seen sparks with the hood up, have you checked to make sure your battery cables are on good and tight. That will let it just click and if they are not making good contact they will spark when you try to start a car. And i dont just mean twist it on tight, take a wrench and tighten it down and make sure they ends are clean were they contact the battery terminals. And if you can have someone watch and see were the sparks are soming from.

Check all your grounds, too. As for all the shortening that's been going on, you should go ahead and check all of your fuses and make sure none are blown. :dsm:

Did this happen after the starter was replaced or just happen out of the blue one day?

If it happened after changing the starter, I would look at the wiring. I have seen people connect positive to one side of the solenoid and ground to the other side. Making a short when the key is turned.

If it happened out of the blue, I would check your battery terminals. If they are clean and well connected, then there might be a short in you starter. Take the starter to an auto parts store to have it tested.
