Timing question

Ok so Im going to be putting a 6 bolt in my car soon/ rebuilding the motor. I was just wondering when i rebuild it and i do the timiing belt when i put the piston a TDC does it matter what stroke its on? I plan on making sure that the piston is at tdc before i put the head back on.

You'll want to make sure that the dowel pins on the cam gears are at 12 o'clock and that the oil pump and crankshaft sprockets are in time.

ok so once i have everything all align willl it matter what stroke the 1st firing piston is on?

the motor doesn't know what stroke you are actually on there is nothing telling it what stroke it actually is so just make sure #1 cylinder is at TDC and you will be okay so long as all your timing marks are aligned! hope this help!

ya thanks that does help alot i will just make sure all the tdc lines line up and hopefully i wont bend any valves!

Just make sure you only rotate the motor CLOCKWISE. Do that while following the guide I posted and you'll be fine!

just make sure the crank is at TDC and the lines on the cam gears will be at 3 o'clock on the exhaust cam and 9 on the intake. You should also remove the 14mm head bolt on the side of the block and slide a screw driver in to line up the balance shaft if u have them. make sure all the marks are lined up and rotate the motor CLOCKWISE, I think 6 times to get the marks to line back up.
