cambridge,
Hi.
I bought a 600hp ait to water intercooler kit from frozenboost.com.

i mounted it mint where the stock intercooler was and i mounter the huge rad and i ran the pump and the lines.

the rule pump is mounted low at the bottom of the front bumper.

it was churning air for a few days and finally i dont hear air in the system anymore.

Ok heres the prob. my car was tuned for pump gas perfect 15lbs no knock, stock intercooler.

Now i floor it and im getting mad knock.

Hoow is this possible????

pls i need help!!!

i should be able to run 20-25lbs.

It shouldnt be worse than the stock intercooler.?

You could still have air in the system. If you aren't cooling the charge enough then you'll be seeing knock, of course. So, are you positive that there's no air in the system...perhaps a big section of the IC that's not getting any water? Is the water outlet higher than the inlet, or is the IC lying flat? If it's flat, then you could definitely have air in it. Is the pump getting intermittent voltage, leading to decreased or even no flow? Is there a kink in the line stopping flow, or some sort of blockage elsewhere? Look for simple causes first. Did you do a boost leak test after you installed everything? A huge boost leak can lead to rich knock. Did you do any other modifications at the same time that you installed the LAIC?

i have a gm blow thru maft.

but no other mods...other than way bigger 4inch intercooler piping ...a j pipe.

The electrical part is mint...trust me.

the pump runs...the fan runs u can hear it.

but you can hardly see any flow if i open the rad cap...hardly any flow at all.

500gph should be a lot of flow?

also...the water to air int is strainght up and down like in place of the stock one.
and the pump is right underneath it to the right down in the lower right front bumper.

if it is air hoe do i get the air out?

im gettn soo mad.
grrrr

How much knock are you getting? 5-10 counts? 30-40 counts?

500gph is a lot of flow. Is the pump primed? You would be able to hear it running even if it wasn't primed and moving much water, as it would basically just be spinning and doing nothing. Is there a bleeder valve on the pump for priming?

Here's what I'd try. Pull the water hose off the top of the IC, connect a garden hose to that hose, and send a bunch of water through the system, so that it flows through the radiator, pump, and IC core, and exits/overflows out of the top of the IC. The pressure from the hose ought to prime the pump if that's the problem, and should purge any air in the system (from the radiator and the IC) if that's the issue. Once you do that, put the loose hose in a gallon jug of water (as a reservoir) and see if it flows/how much it flows once powered up. At 500gph, that 1 gal jug will be empty in about 7 seconds if everything is running properly. Be careful not to run out of water in the jug or you'll need to purge it again. Reattach the top hose, top off the radiator if it needs it, and take it for a spin.

If all that checks out, then you need to start looking for airflow and timing issues. Or perhaps something just went awry coincidentally at the same time, like the knock sensor, and the IC isn't the issue. Can you post a log if the system purge/prime doesn't work, so we can see what's going on?
