Checker auto parts told me this is the dealer reccomended gear oil for my tranny.
It's Gl-5.
Is this compatable? Or is it gonna F up my tranny?
Thanks.

The bottle doesn't say its for gl4 or gl5 use. I use it because a lot of tuners here use it too. It stopped the grinding I had and not to mention it makes my Tranny shift like butter. Only downside is that its thin, so if you don't mind changing your gear oil often then its a great product.

Doesn't bother me, so they dont make a bunch of different kinds of syncromesh? Just one kind?
How much is it anywhoo?

Just one kind is correct. You can use GL5 in your rear diff, thats what I use. For the tranny, stick to a mix of 75-90 and synchromesh. If you can afford it, you could fill it all with synchromesh. Ideally, some of that redline heavy duty gear oil is great! Its hard to find and expensive though. Gl4 if you want your synchros to stay friendly. :thumb:

Eh, I'll just go syncromesh all the way.
I want my shifts to be butter.
And the reason, I'm so confused, is because I went to autozone right?
I was asking for syncromesh, and he said they didn't have any. So he was like, what's it for?
I was like a talon. He was all YOU CANT USE THAT IN THERE! YOU GOTTA GO BACK TO MITSU!
I was like... are you surre? He was like TRUST ME I OWNED 6. And got all pissed.
He probably owned so many because he killed them all ahaha.
So yeah, he made me second guess myself.

Pennzoil Synchromesh, part number 3501. We sell it at my parts store, $5.99 / qt.

It's available at the GM dealer as well for around $15 / qt., although I've done research and I literally believe Pennzoil produces the GM Synchromesh and then GM puts it in a black bottle and triples the price.

Synchromesh is a lightweight, semi-synthetic fluid that's designed for use in manual transmissions with brass synchronizers. The light weight aids in quick-shifting, especially when the transmission is cold.

A good buddy of mine has a T.R.E. Trans in his 2G and they recommend that ONLY Synchromesh be used in the tranny, and that the fluid should be changed every 5,000 miles.

I've heard a lot of good reviews about RL MT90. I would switch to that in a heart beat, but I can't seems to find it locally, so that's my reason for using Synchromesh.
I could buy it online don't get me wrong, but I don't think it would be worth it since I don't accelerate to high rpms much. Not to mention I have a Subaru DD so my DSM is usually in my garage sleeping.

+1 on the Redline MT90 or MTL

-1 on Synchromesh it'll make your trans shift smooth but it's too thin to protect it for long.
