to start my story, I was driving around and nothing unusual was going on. I leave a stop light slowly and shift to second.. nothing weird... speed up a little not even getting into boost, shift into third, felt a little sloppy, and then when i go to shift into fourth... No fourth. SO i attempt to shift into second, and there is nothing there. The car is stuck in third. I push the clutch in and it will engage properly but the car will not come out of third gear. I had no previous signs of unusual transmission wear and the car had been shifting GREAT and smooth.

I can move my shifter around like my shifter is in a jar of peanut butter... it'll go everywhere but wont go in any gear.

I guess maybe its time for a shep rebuild.... any thoughts are greatly appreciated...

EDIT: Turns out my shift linkage had come out of the bracket it was in and the c clip that holds the linkage in place was resting on top of my transmission. 5 minute fix and it was free so i cant complain!

When you say it wont come out of third gear, if you have the stick in neutral it still is in third?

I had a problem not as severe and it ended up being a finger was broken of the pressure plate. Shift into the gears when the car is off and have a friend watch under your hood while you shift. I had my MBC controller come loose and make it so i couldn't shift into certain gears because it wouldn't allow the weight to move.

check your linkage at the shifter base, sometimes long rubber piece breaks loose and can no longer hold the wire in place causing it to bend. Therefore while you think you shifted to 2nd in actuality you just bent the wire.

thanks for all the replies guys. I'm really hoping my linkage broke or came off the transmission. That seems more likely to me because the car was PERFECT until this happened, AND like the clutch is engaging and disengaging properly or at least seems to be. I took the center console out but i dont really know what im necessarily looking for. And like someone mentioned before it actually is stuck in the 3-4 gate.. like i cant move it side to side only north and south. And like when i try to get into fourth it just wont go.

So again thanks guys hopefully the shifter linkage will solve the problems.

And any other suggestions are appreciated as well!!
