I have a quick question that I need answered. Has anyone ever had their turbo have block to turbo clearance issues? My shop guy says that my new turbo PTE SCM34 Series (Mitsu Bolt-On / 545 HP) - Modern Automotive Performance is actually touching the block:mad:. Im thinking they sent me the wrong turbo. I'm not putting it together bc of work and school.

I really dont want to buy a new ex. mani unless its necessary for this to work.
Thanks.

Is it touching the block or the water pipe? Denting the water pipe for clearance is quite common for turbos on our cars as the compressor housings can often require a bit more room on larger turbos.

yea the water pipe on my old 93 engine was bent because the PTE .50 trim i had on there was HUGE compared to the 14b originally so if it is just the water pipe bend it just dont kink it i mean it shouldnt really be a problem

and i really dont think you are going to need a new manifold i dont think

Thanks for the quick responses. My guy said its hitting the block. I asked if its hitting the piping and he said it wasn't. I'm about to go see what he's talking about a soon as my ride gets here. Could it be the wrong turbo maybe?

Unless you somehow mistakenly got a T3 turbine housing (which would have a much different flange than the mitsubishi setup on both the inlet and outlet) there would be no way that you received the wrong turbocharger. Let me know what you find.

Thanks!:)

I just got back from the shop and they didn't dent the water pipe. Although, it looks like its gonna be close to the block. So we will see tomorrow morning.

Crosses fingers.....

:mad:Due to a situation with the car shop I got the car back at the house. I got the turbo on and its touching the water banjo bolt(the big one). But it's not touching the block and I got it to bolt right on(within of having it back for 15 minutes). Since I didnt pay my mechanic anything :) should I just go ahead and buy a new manifold or would I be alright with the housing touching the bolt?
I guess what I'm asking is that if I can get away without having to buy a new mani. I would use that money towards something else i.e. cams, or methanol.
