So i took my car for emissions in Secaucus, NJ, failed due to High CO AND HC
HC Standard: 100, i had 258
CO% Standarf, 0.50, i had .84,
RPM 2500
my car is pretty much stock except for a bov, could it be the O2 sensor? but then again i have no CEL, any tips appreciated.

ps: jersey inspection suxxx.

Dude never take your car for inspection to NJ DMV. Now you have to get it reinspected at the states DMV. Change your 02 sensor, check your plugs and base timing. Unplug the negative side of the battery for 10 seconds to reset your ECU and fuel trims. If that doesn't do it, get a new cat.

First thing is to check your plugs/wires and timing as the op suggested. Next make sure you have no boost leaks. Before spending uneeded money try the simple cheap things first. Another tip that has helped me in the past is to add a bottle of regular ole rubbing alcohol to your gas tank. Just make sure it has time to mix in and is making its way thru the lines before going back for the re-check. One other thing is to make sure the car is running at regular operating temps. Hotter is cleaner on the sniffer. Good luck.

do they put your car on rollers like in maryland? they did that to my awd and it almost jumped of the rollers. then they made me sign a waver saying they are not responsable if it brakes. anyway the car failed 3 times. the way i got buy emmissions was make a test pipe with a weld on bung then hook up a to a compressed air tank that went through the floor board. i had it under a blanket behind the driver seat and turned it on right when i was about to go on the rollers. its NOT LEGAL but i had no choice the car was all i had at the time. and i'll be damed if they are going to make me spend 400.$ in emmissions shit then here is the kicker. i was not aloud to install the parts. car had to go to a state run shop that charged 80$ an hour labor. so yea i'll give the man the shaft. because that state sure did try to give it to me.(with no lube):notgood:

no rollers, its a fwd dyno, but i looked under the car and it looks like i have an exhaust leak and my cat is done. LOL, ill have to get a complete exhaust system, do you guys know if theres a way to pay for inspection after failing?, or i thought about changing the whole system with a full 3" catback, thanks in advance people. ive learned my lesson about getting my DSM state inspected :|
