ok so i already know how to replace the air bags BUT, what i need to know is can i buy two bags from a different car and plug them in? or do i have to buy the module too? or do i have to buy a new module from the dealership?

i know it sounds dumb but manufacturers are doing stuff like that where you can buy used bags but have to buy the 400-1500 module to deploy them :notgood:.. i've searched around but really didn't find what i was looking for, anyone have any idea:confused:?

o yea its for a 98 eclipse gst

I was a service manager at Mitsu and I can tell you that if the car was in an impact you need a module. The module is a one crash only unit that needs to be replaced if the bags were deployed. See if someone is parting a car out to save some money.

Yes, you can buy airbags from different cars. No, you don't have to buy the SRS ECU module unless you were in an accident and it was damaged. When you install everything, the SRS airbag light will be on in the cluster. You have to take your car to the dealership to have them reset the system. Anytime you disconnect an airbag or the SRS ECU, you have to reset the SRS system.

If you are looking for the drivers side airbag or the SRS ECU, check the classifieds. I have a Momo steering wheel, sold my driver side airbag and put the SRS ECU on sale for a few months. No one bought it, so it went in the trash. Try eBay too.

ok i guess i should tell you what happened.. i bought my car a couple months ago.. it was in a accident a couple of years ago and has sat ever sense i had front end frame damage that i'm in the process of fixing in my auto collision class, so now i want to replace my two (black (if anyone has any)) bags..

i was told that i could hook the bags to the module and the module would reset itself?? is that wrong? (my instructor told me this)

It doesn't in DSMs. I don't know about other cars. I changed driver side airbags on my car (went from the Eagle logo to Mitsubishi logo) and the SRS ECU didn't reset itself. I later decided to ditch the airbag and go with an aftermarket steering wheel.

Try eBay for the airbags since you can't post in the classifieds yet.

Here is a link to the SRS ECU:
eBay Motors: 96-99 Eclipse Talon Avenger Air Bag Airbag Computer ECU (item 220259419473 end time Sep-17-08 20:59:08 PDT)

... and there are a bunch of airbags on eBay too.

hmm... yea idk LOL, i think i'm gonna call a dealership to be sure but they'll probably lie to me, so i guess its just trial and error
