Wakefield,
Hi guys, my friend with a 99 Eclipse (2.4L) wants to buy my spare 16G turbo from my evo. to put on his car.
I like the guy so i don't want to sell it to him if it's gonna be a huge expensive project for him to finish, because we're both students and not rich. do you guys think he should just save for a 4G63T? Or would Turboing his 2.4L 420A(not sure if i have his engine name right) not be as huge a project as i imagine??? /SIZE]

:d 4g63 Ftw :d

I hope you get banned.

Anyway, back on topic. The 2.4L in his car (I'm assuming it's a Spyder) is a 4G64. Do some searching on the 2.4L swap here on the forums, it's the same principle except he's starting with a 4G64 and adding 4G63 parts instead of the other way around. A simple search for "turbo 2.4L spyder" tells me it's common practice to put a 4G63T head on as well as everything else from the 4G63T used in the factory turbo setup. What he won't have, however, is the lower compression ratio of the 4G63T. That can be solved with different pistons, but it looks like he's not looking to spend a ton of money.

But, I'm going to keep my mouth shut and let you do the searching. I don't want to spread misinformation because I am by no means knowledgeable on the 4G64 or turbo'ing it.

Thanks tatanko, i'll do some more searching and try and give him an idea of what it'll cost, if it's just the head, turbo manifold ect... he may be into it... do you think 300-350$ for the turbo is a fair price? it's in good condition, 88 XXX Kms on it

Anyway thanks again

I'd like to know for sure...is his car a Spyder? (convertible) I'm not going to tell you that price is fair or not fair, I'm too new myself LOL

He can buy a new ebay turbo for 250. Do what u want with the turbo but that isn;t that great of an price for a friend.

I was asking if $350 is a fair price because that's what my mechanic who did my engine swap offered me for the turbo. he told me a new authentic 16 G costs 550$ to 600$.

I figured i'd rather sell it to someone i know than some guy my mechanic knows. but i'd rather keep it if i can't fairly get at least 300 for it

I mean if it is in good condition and all then sell it to your buddy for $300. If he is happy with that price and you are happy with that price, then that is fair! If you really want to hook him up with a deal, then that is totally up to you.

doing a turbo conversion on a 4G64 spyder engine is going to cost your buddy a good amount of money... In my opinion if he wanted a turbo in his car he would be better off selling his car and buying a GST spyder if that is an option...
